Thirty-Four: Birthday Special

*(Y/N) POV*

I ran into the kitchen of the Flame Estate. It's been a few months since I began my Blood Breathing Training and today is Giyuu's nineteenth birthday. 

I slid in on my socks and fell onto my butt. Rengoku, Obanai, and Mitsuri turned around and laughed. Seriously though, why did Obanai even have to laugh? The man doesn't find anything funny. 

I pouted as I sat on the floor, rubbing my tailbone, "Ouch that hurt." Mitsuri put her fork down and helped me up. 

"Gotta be more careful there, kid," Rengoku spoke from the table. I stayed pouting and took my seat at the table for breakfast. 

"Why are you in such a hurry?" Obanai asked me as I shoved the food down my throat. I could see him smirking through his bandages. I gave him a glare and kept on eating. 

They all chuckled and kept eating their food. Once we were finished I jumped up and took the plates to wash them. Mitsuri came up behind my speaking, "(Y/N), why don't you go get ready I'll take care of this." 

I gave her a quick hug and thanks before running up to my room. I made sure to do my hair and put on an outfit that wouldn't be seen as too lazy. Rengoku and I had gone to see Master and requested that at least Giyuu and I receive no missions tonight. He agreed, but could not guarantee the same for Mitsuri, Obanai, and Rengoku. 

I threw my hair up into a ponytail with two pieces framing my face. Then I threw on a pair of leggings and a sweater since it was now February. I grabbed my necklace and ring to finish the look. Smiling at myself in the mirror, I hoped Giyuu would be happy today. 

I ran back downstairs and said quick goodbyes to everyone while they prepared for Giyuu. I ran to his estate as quickly as possible, without sweating, and walked inside. 

I found him washing his dishes from breakfast. Now that I had mastered Total Concentration Constant, I didn't need to stay at Giyuu's all of the time. He had a mission this week so he got in late last night and I stayed with Rengoku. 

I ran up behind him and hugged him from behind. My face was buried in his shoulder since he was a few inches taller than me. I heard him chuckle and dry his hands off. He turned around and leaned against the sink, pulling me into a tighter hug. 

"Well I missed you too," he whispered into my hair. I looked up at him, meeting his eyes for the first time since he left. 

I looked down and saw he was wearing his uniform. I watched as he also looked down and noticed I wasn't. He looked at me confused, "Why aren't you in uniform today?" 

I gave him a smile and quick peck on the lips, "Why are you? Got get changed birthday boy. Come on!" I grabbed his hand and dragged him to his room. 

He was trying to yell things at me, clearly confused. I threw the door open and shut it behind us. 

"You have the day off. Me and you today. Let's get you changed," I smiled at him. He looked at me still confused. I sighed and walked up to him, wrapping my hands around his waist. "Master gave you and I the day off since we haven't enjoyed a birthday together in a while." 

He smiled at me and hugged me tight, "Thank you." I could hear the appreciation in his voice. 

I sat on his bed while he changed out of his uniform and got ready for the day. Once he was done he walked over to me and jumped on top of me. I looked at him with a puzzled face and he attacked me in tickles. 

I started laughing so hard I couldn't speak, "Giyuu- I- I- can-can't breathe." He stopped what he was doing and laid down next to me. We stayed there for a few minutes before I abruptly stood up. 

I reached my hand out to him, "Come on, we're going to the Flame Estate." Again, he was confused, but he agreed. 

We walked to the estate talking about nothings, his hand in mine. I looked over to him while he was talking and zoned out. He was truly a work of art. His eyes shining in the sun like the ocean, the way his hair falls, and his cheek bones were to die for. He stopped walking, stopping me with him. 

"Did you hear what I just said?" He asked me. My face went bright red. He let out a laugh and kissed my forehead, "You are adorable." My face went even more red, if it was possible, and he continued our walk. 

When we arrived at the estate I began getting excited. He had no idea what was waiting for him inside. I gave him a quick smile and opened the door. 

"SURPRISE!" Mitsuri and Rengoku yelled. Giyuu stood there in shock. He turned and looked at me, "You did this?" 

I smiled and nodded. The living area had been decorate and the others had made a cake this morning for him. He grabbed me, picking me up and spinning me around. Giyuu finally placed me on the ground and gave me a kiss. After he pulled away he leaned his forehead against mine, "Thank you." 

I was going to respond, but Obanai just had to interrupt, "Alright love birds. Let's get the show on the road." I turned to him glaring, "You're one to talk. Just ask her out already." His face and Mitsuri's went completely red. Rengoku laughed from his place and I even heard Giyuu let out a small chuckle. 

We went to the others and enjoyed the rest of the day until sunset. By the time sunset came around Rengoku went to his father's house, Obanai received a mission, and Mitsuri decided that she would go train. 

Giyuu and I sat in the yard, watching the sunset together. 

"Thank you for today," I heard him speak beside me. I turned to look at him and smiled, "Of course. I hope you had the best nineteenth birthday ever." 

He smiled back at me, "I did." With that he placed a kiss on my lips, pulling me into his lap. He pulled me even closer, his hands on my waist, deepening the kiss. 

We pulled apart and he looked at me, "I really do appreciate everything you do (Y/N). I will always be there for you. I will always protect you. I will always love you. Don't forget that." I smiled and kissed him again.

When we pulled apart again I spoke, "You know I will do everything and more for you Giyuu. I love you too." 

We watched the rest of the sunset together before making our way up to bed for the night. I'm glad that he had a good birthday.

Okay, so a little more filler and romantic stuff. But we need some calm before the storm :)
