"I might have to leave the country in a few months. It would be for the best that we get this over with as soon as possible."

"Yes Sir. Nexus should be able to track it down in a few days. Then we might be able to negotiate."

Claude nodded at the words of the Chief Supervisor of the firm. Nexus was a subsidiary firm that came under the ownership of the Walker House, also being the foundational firm. It was a part of the four subsidiaries worldwide that together consolidated to form what people knew as the Walker Estate.

"I have a question.", Alex raised a hand from behind him. Claude looked at her short stature from his shoulder and nudged her to come forward.

The polite supervisor was very helpful to the young intern, who noticed that she had been diligently helping in the case with her skills. "They are most welcome. Ask away."

"How can we manipulate international data? Won't it be heavily guarded with Network layers that employ third rate firewalls and cables?"

Claude felt pride bubble up in his chest over such an intelligent question. The Supervisor raised a brow and smiled, "Well, we have special mechanisms to perform such operations without violating the international laws and protocols. It is a risky measure, but still the most accurate."

Alex nodded to the answer and smiled. But she was still unclear about her doubt.

"Excuse me, Sir. Just a minute.", the Supervisor excused himself when someone called for him.

Alex stared at his disappearing back. Her face was twisted in confusion. With wavering eyes, she turned to Claude and tilted her head to a slight left.

Claude sighed as he stood up from his seat in the conference room. Leveling his palm on her notepad to get her attention, he whispered, "That mechanism is the use of people like you."

Alex's eyes snapped to his face, which was close to hers. She looked straight in his eyes and asked, "What do you mean people like me?"

"Computational Criminologists like you. This the power you have, doing such extravagant cyber operations that even I can't. No top professional can."

A smirk etched onto her face. "Power."

Claude raised a brow as he straightened. He placed his hand on her lower back to push her forward gently, "What is cooking in that brain of yours?"

She answered with sparkling amusement, "Power. Something only I can do. Even though it's not much like yours, it gives me a weird satisfaction that I, am in control."

". . . . Even if its a part of my job. I can't wait to actually have my hand in it from next year." , she shrugged.

As she walked forward confidently, her ankle stumbled. She would have fallen face down, but then a strong hand grabbed her elbow and pulled her towards it. Her back hit a strong chest with a thud, and she suddenly became hyper - aware of the heat that radiated on her nape.
