One Night

Ch 12. Sir, yes Sir (Lexi's backstory)

Lexi jumped out of her bed and ran out into the main hallway of the RSS (The Resistance Secret Space).
“Goooooood morning everyone!” She yelled down the long hallway.
She loved the way it echoed as it traveled down the hallway.
A door opened and an older man stepped out into the hallway. He was wearing a black commander hat, a black suit, and black pants.
“You're up early Lexi. Good morning!” He said.
Lexi smiled.
“Good morning Sir!” She yelled.
“Lexi, keep it down. You are going to wake everyone up” The man said.
“Sorry Sir. I just always like to greet the day with a smile!” Lexi said.
The man adjusted his hat.
“That is completely fine, you don't need to greet the day by yelling though,” he explained.
“Got it Sir!” She said and ran down the long hallway to the mess hall.
She opened the big doors of the mess hall, and the smell of waffles blew past her. Her favorite breakfast.
She walked into the empty mess hall and sat down at the table in front of the counter.
“Good morning Mr. Q!” She yelled into the kitchen.
A younger man, who looked like he was in his 20s, appeared from around the corner.
“Oh, hey Lexi!” He said, smiling.
Lexi smiled back.
“Hi! What’s for breakfast this morning?” She asked
He laughed.
“Couldn't you smell it?” He asked.
Lexi got up and walked over to the counter.
“I was just making sure my nose wasn't tricking me,” She said.
Lexi started running out of the mess hall.
“I’ll be back in a bit!” She yelled as she ran out.
As she turned the corner, she ran into the older man from earlier.
“Owch. Sorry Sir. I didn't mean to run into you,” she said.
The man laughed.
“It’s fine Lexi. I was actually coming to find you. I have a task for you,” he said.
Lexi stood up as straight as she could.
“What do you need me to do Sir?” She asked.
The man pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket.
“The virus is heading towards Illinois. I need you and Alex out there and looking for more of The Immune. Can you do that?” He asked.
Lexi nodded.
“Sir, yes Sir.”
