Family – a group of one or more parents living together as a unit.

I had never had a family, or I thought I didn't, but it was until I had met the people that were standing beside me as our extended family flooded through the front door, did I know that I had always been loved.

I had been loved even though I had starved myself, while being hammered into the cold, cement ground that had my blood spilling on the top of it.

Everyone had been greeting one another, but Al had persuaded me to be a surprise for everyone else, along with Nicolas, Benjamin, and Liam. So, here I was, standing behind Emiliano, while Liam was pushed into my dad's back, while Nicolas stood behind Rafael, and Benjamin was behind Al.

"It is great to see you all. I wish the others were still here to see this" a deep voice had stopped everyone from speaking. They had wished that we were with them all along.

It was dead silent, only for a few moments, before Liam let out a little giggle. That was when I noticed that Lizzie had slithered her way around to behind Liam and tickled him.

"What was that?" the same voice from before caused every eye to turn towards my father. It felt weird calling him my father, even worse when I tried to call him my dad.

"I'm sorry, but I have never had a dad before. Sorry if I ruined whatever image you had of me"

"Nothing" my mother rushed out before my father got a chance to say any lie that he had wound up in his head.

"Nothing is wrong. I just need to get back to my dorm" and with that, our study session was over, and all I could see was her hair whipping around the corner.

"Mhm, sure" another man grumbled, causing me to clutch onto the back of Emi. He seemed to have noticed this, as he made it look like he was scratching his back, but he brushed his fingers through my hair before pushing it closer to his back.

'There not here, there not here' I chanted to myself, calming my own nerves, just like I had been for the past 5 years now. Like always.

"Lets go have something to eat" my mother started, ushering everyone towards the dining room, but the man that had spoken before, stopped everyone. "Creo que esconden algo"

(Translation: I think their hiding something.)

"What could we possibly be hiding?" my father stupidly asked. "You all definitely know something" the same man responded.

"You don't think they found them?" a boy who looked around the age of Nic, asked. Clearly, he was hinting at us. Maybe after all that training and abuse I had gone through, there was people who actually cared and loved me.

"Don't think about that. We don't know that for sure" a lady then smacked the back of the boy's head. I cringed, knowing it would hurt but the boy didn't seem bothered. "Well yeah. Why else would the Chinese and Russian's be looking for children that are the exact ages of what they would have been, huh" the boy responded, a harsh glare plastered on his face.
