"Where's Aubrey?"

"She's with Klaus. He took her with him."

Elijah closed his eyes not believing that they allowed Klaus to take Aubrey. "You have no idea what she is to Klaus." He says as Elena shook her head. "Aubrey is not just a doppelgänger, but she is Klaus's soulmate. Something that should have never been created, but when Valentina died, the ancestors felt bad for him when his wolf side was bind till he had the ritual that's needed."

"So with Aubrey here..."

"He is more vincible, but no one knows this about the soulmates. On the night of the ritual, Aubrey Nichols will turn to a hybrid too." He says. "It's the only way for the ritual to work. She also has to drink the blood of the doppelgänger. You."

Elena couldn't believe what she was hearing. She was the key, not to Klaus, but to Aubrey. Her own friend was going to turn on the night she has to die. Aubrey was going to be invincible once she is turned. "What do I need to do to stop Aubrey from becoming a hybrid?"

"Nothing. There's nothing that can be done." He says. "Once Klaus gets back in his body, him and Aubrey are tied."

"What happens if we kill him?"

"Aubrey dies too."
