After I calmed down and Sam got done talking on the phone to Richie, I recollected myself.
I noticed Deputy Vinson was here to my surprise. Shouldn't he be at the hospital to guard my sister? The killer was out and who knew who else could be his target? Without the right kind of protection, my disabled and injured sister could face the same fate as Wes and Judy.
"Hey, isn't that Deputy Vinson?" I nudged to Sam, getting her attention on him. "He's supposed to be with Tara."
Sam glared and ran over to him. I hurriedly followed her.
"Who's at the hospital?" Sam angrily demanded. Deputy Vinson just looked at the crime scene and back at us. "Who's watching my sister?"
"I just heard about the sheriff." Was this guy a fucking idiot? Woodsboro must not have a lot of police to keep up with this crap.
I rolled my eyes in aggravation toward that man.
Cops suck.
"They needed me here!" The deputy claimed. Yeah, whatever.
"Where are you going?" I heard Dewey asked as I run to get in the passenger's seat of Sam's car. She was the one driving it.
"Our sister's in trouble!" Sam answered.
I'm texting Tara right now if she's okay, but there's no answer yet. Ugh! Come on, Tara! I kept bothering her with the texts until she does respond.
We buckled ourselves in, but before Sam could start the car, Dewey got in the backseat. To mine and Sam's shock.
"You're-you're coming with?" I stuttered the statement rather than questioning it. I'm still being somewhat speechless.
"What are you waiting for?" Dewey asked Sam. "Drive!"
So, Sam drove us right out of the crime scene to the hospital for Tara. She was driving as fast as she could. Not caring about any of the other cars or red lights. Our sister's life was on the line.
"Is Tara responding to any of your texts?" Sam asked me.
"No, she's not." I answered with frustration.
"Fine. I'll call her," She muttered and did what she said. But only after some rings, it got Sam impatient and she hung up when Tara didn't answer. "Damn it!"
"Should you really be making a phone call right now?" I heard Dewey's nervous voice asking. I guess he didn't like Sam going over the speed limit and being on her phone at the same time.
"Yes." I hissed. I tried to call Tara next, but still nothing. My heartbeat was beating a mile a minute and my anxiety was going through the roof.
Sam was driving like a speed demon and passed through so many cars. Nearly killing us herself. But it was necessary. She did call Richie about Tara that he should go to her. I didn't trust the guy at all, but at least Richie was somebody.
Minutes later, Sam had called Richie again.
"Richie, are you at the hospital?" Sam asked on the speaker phone.
"Hello, Samantha," The killer greeted. "Richie can't come to the phone right now. He's finding out what happened to people who stick their noses in business that doesn't concern them."
"Please, don't hurt him." Sam begged.
"I'll tell you what. You can choose. I'll only kill one." The killer made a sick deal.
I know I would choose Tara over Richie in a heartbeat. But morally speaking, I just could not do that to somebody. This was simply evil and cruel.
"What? What?! Tara!" Sam started freaking out.
