After what felt like an eternity, the cops finally searched the scene where Meredith had allegedly been taken. The detectives gathered all the evidence they could and asked all the questions—they asked everyone questions, even the hard ones. After everything was over, it was back to waiting—waiting for answers. Everyone tried to work, to live their lives. It wasn't working, everyone was worried, wondering.A day later, Derek got a call about the evidence. The blood was Meredith's, but there wasn't much else they could find at the scene. There were footprints, but only two sets. Meredith and someone else's. There were no fingerprints besides hers; it was almost like whoever took her was either cleaning up their trail or very stealthy. It left Derek and the rest of her friends heartbroken. But that wasn't the end of the investigation.
Meredith woke up to a light tapping. Rain was falling from the ceiling and hitting her head. She exhaled, moving over to get away from it. She hadn't realized it, but Finn was beside her, and she felt herself bump into him. It was dark in the room, and the only light was shining through the cracks in the wall. It was cold and damp. The only warmth they had was the building's heating, some blankets they were given, and each other.
"Why are you so close to me?" She whispered to him, and she knew he was awake. How could you sleep in this mess?
"I don't know. Warmth, comfort?" he responded. She could hear him shrugging from the rustling of his clothes.
"Finn-" She began, but the light flipping on and the door opening stopped her. She watched as one of the men walked in.
"Your friends are looking for you," He began, a big grin forming on his face as he crouched down to be at her level. "They won't find anything on you. Pretty soon, they'll think you're dead because they won't be able to find anything."
"That's not true, they won't give up on me!"
"Princess, they don't have any evidence."
"Y-you planned all of this, didn't you?" She stammered, watching as he grew closer.
"Don't listen to him; he's trying to scare you," Finn interrupted before anyone else said anything.
"Shut it," the man growled, smacking his face. "No one knows what happened to you. No one will come for you, either, son."
"This time, there won't be any traitors helping the girl escape." They could hear a voice in the distance speak. It was the other man. "This time they'll give up on you."
"You got the camera right?"
"Yep,"
"Wait, what's that for?" Meredith stammered, watching the two men put a small camera on a tripod.
"We're getting them proof." The taller man spoke, and his hair was blonder than the other man's. She hoped she could remember his name, or they'd at least call each other by their names. But they never slipped.
"W-why? Don't you already have enough proof?"
"They need more proof," the second man said, his hair light brown and his eyes dark green. Maybe she was wrong, but it looked like it anyway. "Get up!" he shouted, and she saw the gun in his hand, now pointed at her.
"Get up, or he'll shoot you, Meredith," Finn whispered, worry in his voice. He nudged her, urging her to stand on her feet.
"I can't let them do this," she muttered, not listening to the fear-inducing men before her. "They have to know I'm still alive, right?" She added. Finn shook his head. He didn't know how to respond. The girl he liked would get hurt if she didn't listen. Or was that their plan all along?
"Get up now or I will shoot you!" He shouted this time, he was angrier; he got closer as well. It scared her, but something told her to stay still and not move.
Meredith reluctantly stood, but very slowly. Her eyes glanced back and forth between the two men. She was terrified, and then something terrible happened. She watched as he pointed the gun above her head and pulled the trigger two times. The loud sound of the weapon caused her to fall to the ground. That was what they wanted, though; they wanted her to be scared enough to collapse to the ground.
"What the hell!" She shouted, covering her ears. Her ears were ringing, and pain started to radiate through her head and neck.
"We'll show you the results," The man with the camera told her before the two left the room. She couldn't see their faces, but she imagined they were smiling in their own twisted way.
