The lightning was blinding. The thunder made the whole house shake. A girl, sitting by a window suddenly felt the urge to go out into the rain. The door opened and she stepped out. As she walked towards the water, where the storm was at its highest, she heard someone call her name, but she didn't care. The pull towards the waves was stronger. The storm was calling her.

She waded into the ocean up to waist level, then paused. The waves ceased at her touch, and a circle of calm formed around her. The girls head was drawn upwards, so her eyes were fixated on the sky. She reached up, to touch the lightning, but hand grabbed her wrist and tried to pull her back into shore.

"Are you stupid?! Let's go!" the boy cried, above the noise of the rain and waves.

"I can't" she replied, acting in a trance

"What on earth do you mean?!" The boy looked at her as if she was crazy.

"I'm needed" was all she said

Suddenly a light flashed in her eyes, as if they created the lightning that came just seconds after. Her heart was thumping at a rapid pace, equivalent to the thunder. And suddenly the reason she was there became clear to the boy.

She was the storm itself.

He slowly let her hand go and watched as she was taken up to the clouds, evaporating into nothing more than a thick mist that hung above the water.
