Phil's POV

I woke up and I didn't remember nothing for a second, I just saw Ellie crying next to me in my bed

"Ellie. . ." I said in a really weak voice

She looked at me and gasped

"Oh fuck I'm so sorry Phil" She said while hugging me tightly

I winced 'cause she was hugging me and I still got some of the pain from how was I knocked out, she noticed that and loosened her grip

"What the fuck did just happened?" I said not being really conscious

I saw her crying and I asked

"Is Joel. . ."

"Yeah he is. . ." She replied leaning herself on me

"Hey Phil?" She said

"Yeah?" I replied

"I really sorry for the way I treated you at the party, I just fucked everything up" She said as she was wetting my t-shirt with her tears

"Oh don't worry about that" I said trying to calm her down a bit

After a few minutes I was able to sit on the bed and she sat next to me

We stared at each other for a while before her putting her lips on mine, giving me a very long kiss.

After that I just stared down and began to cry, thinking about Joel and how could I have saved him, but I failed.

"I could have fucking saved him" I said in a sob

"It's all my fault-" I added

"It's not your fault Phil, you did what you could" Ellie replied

Then we heard a knock on the door and I stood up to go open

"Phil where are you going? You're hurt!" She said

"I can do it" I replied

"Don't move, stay here, I go open the door" She cut me off leaning me on the bed

She went to the door and it was Tommy, he walked in and asked me

"How are you doing Phil? You've got hurt so much"

"I'm fine, however just change the subject now" I replied as I saw Ellie getting worried more than before

Tommy noticed that and said

"Oh sorry"

"I'm gonna fucking kill that bitch" I said as I remembered of Joel

"You're all hurt, where do you want to go?" Ellie asked

"I just said that. But you stay here, it's dangerous for you" I said

"Where you go, I go. But not now, you need to get yourself together first" She replied firmly

"Alright good night guys" Tommy said as he left

Then Ellie sat next to me and said

"I wanna go visit Joel's grave tomorrow"

"I'm coming with you then" I replied as she leaned her head on my shoulder

After that we both fell asleep.

--- The Next Day ---

I woke up early 'cause I couldn't sleep, I sat up on the bed and saw Ellie still sleeping. I didn't want to wake her up so I silently dressed up and went out the house. I went to Joel's house and sat on the front door crying

Ellie's POV

I woke up as I heard the door closing, it was Phil, I saw his face wet from crying and his eyes got a bit red. He didn't notice that I was awake and sat on my desk chair, the one where I sit to draw. He put his elbows on the desk and his hands over his face and was still crying, so I got up and got closer hugging him from behind. He noticed that I was awake and tried to dry up his tears as he stood up from the chair.

"Good morning" He said sobbing

"Good morning you too" I said as I put my arms around his neck

"So where have you been?" I asked

"I was at Joel's house" He replied starting to cry again

I saw that he still had my hoodie on, he didn't separate from it at all.

I kissed him on his cheek and went to get dressed, but while I was changing my clothes I heard my guitar, then he started to sing

"If I ever were to lose you

I'd surely lose myself

Everything I have found, dear

I've not found by myself"

"Fuck-" He then said with a really sad voice

I finished changing my clothes and when I went out my room he laid the guitar back where it was, he then looked at me and said with a sob

"Are you ready?"

"Yeah, let's go" I replied

And we headed out

--- Time Skip ---

We were at Joel's grave and I was right in front of it

"Thank you Joel, for everything. You helped me so much and always protected me. You're the only reason I met Ellie, and she's all I've got. Rest in piece my man." After that I stood up with my hands on my pockets and staring down.

Ellie and Dina were ahead of me, but I could hear what they were saying

"I can go alone, save you guys the risk" Ellie said at Dina

"We already talked about that" Dina said as she put her hand on Ellie's back

"I know, but I can't risk losing you" Ellie's voice cracked

"Where you go, I go" Dina said putting an hand on Ellie's cheek

I just felt burning inside in that moment

'Fuck- She first says that she's sorry for how she treated me, and now she does this' I thought

We walked to Joel's house, Ellie and I entered while Dina wanted to stay outside. So Ellie and I got upstairs and she found a broken watch inside a box.

--- FLASHBACK ---

"Hey Joel?" I said to him

"Yeah?"

"Why do you always wear that watch even if it's broken?" I asked

"Well- Sarah gave it to me, the day that all went to shit"

"So it reminds you of her?"

"Yeah"

--- PRESENT DAY ---

"Joel's watch, you should put it into your backpack" I said to Ellie

She took it and put it into her bag

"Can you guys came here?" Dina shouted

"Yeah we're coming" Ellie replied

Downstairs there was Maria with a note on her hands, she started to read it

'Maria, I wish I could let this go but I can't. I'm heading to Seattle, I have to bring these people to justice. Phil and Ellie will try to stop me. Please don't let them do it, lock them up'

"He's gonna get himself killed!" Maria was worried for Tommy

"We should have went with him" Ellie added

"I'm gonna search him" Ellie said

"We're coming with you" Dina and I said

So we took our horses and went out to save Tommy
