Phil's POV
It had been almost three months since my marriage to Ellie. I was in my room playing piano, Dina and JJ were with me, while Ellie was downstairs. At one point I heard her say
"Phil come on down! Tommy's here!"
"All right," I replied.
"Hey Phil?" Said Dina
"Yeah?"
"Can JJ and I try your piano?"
"Sure" I answered and then went downstairs
I saw Tommy and hugged him
"What's up Tommy?"
"Well, except for the eye, everything's fine" He replied
"Why don't you sit down and have some coffee?" Ellie asked
"If you want then gladly!" Answered
We sat down at the table while Ellie made us coffee. Tommy removed a map from his backpack and placed it on the table
"What are you doing with that?" I asked
"I have good news"
"Like what?"
"I got some information about Abby" He said and then continued
"She is located right here"
He pointed to the city of Santa Barbara with his finger
"Look Tommy, I can't"
Meanwhile, Ellie arrived with coffee
"What are you talking about?" Ellie asked
But Tommy did not answer and said to me
"How can you say you can't?"
" 'I'll make her pay!' That's what you promised once we got back to Jackson!" He added
"What the fuck are you talking about Tommy?" Ellie chimed in
"I got information about Abby, but your husband doesn't want to get justice for Joel anymore"
"And what do you care? If he doesn't want to go, then he's not going"
I remained silent with my head lowered as Ellie brought Tommy out, but I could still hear what they were saying
"Tommy, I don't want you to come into our fucking house anymore if you have to talk about this stuff! We are fine now, why do we have to continue this fucking thing?" Said Ellie
"Ellie, think what you want, if it were up to me I would go but as you can see I can't because I have an eye that I almost can't see out of, and a bad leg" Tommy replied and left
Ellie came back inside and saw that I was still with my head down and thinking, so she came up from behind and hugged me
"Don't worry" She said to me, but I didn't say anything, so she worried
"Hey, do you want to go outside for a little bit and get some air?"
"Okay" I said in an almost broken voice
We went outside and sat in the steps of the house, while I stared at the sky, Ellie asked me
"Do you really want to go?"
I remained silent, then she hugged me tightly and I began to cry
"Tell me you won't leave me alone"
"I won't" I replied
"If you want to go, I'll go with you" She told me
"I would like to go, but it's dangerous for you, I don't want to lose you again" I said
"It doesn't matter how dangerous it is, if you want to go I will go with you, whether you want to or not, end of the story babe" She said to me
"Okay, then you will go with me" I told her
She raised her head and looked at me
"What about Dina?"
"I don't know, for sure she can't go with us"
"I have an idea" She said to me
"What would that be?" I asked
"Let's leave tonight so that Dina doesn't know where we are going"
"Good, but that way we're going to leave her alone with JJ"
"Damn" She said
"Alright, we'll have some new ideas tonight, for now don't worry"
"Okay" She said and we walked back inside
--- Time Skip ---
It was night and everyone was asleep, I woke up and saw Ellie still asleep, so I lightly moved her arm to wake her up
"Ellie, we have to go" I whispered
She opened her eyes and looked at me
"Okay" She replied so we both stood up
We packed our backpacks, grabbed our weapons and left the house. Once outside Ellie looked at me
"We stick together, no matter what"
"No matter what" I said as I nodded to her
We started walking away from our house
"Shit, I feel a little guilty"
"Why should you feel guilty?" Ellie asked
"We are leaving Dina alone with JJ"
"Well, you're right, but someone could stay with her while we're away"
"Let's stop by Tommy's and tell him to go to Dina's to protect her" I said
"Good idea"
We went to Tommy's, and knocked on his door. Tommy strangely was awake and opened it for us
"What do you want?" He asked
"Ellie and I are going to look for Abby, could you please stay with Dina, to protect her and JJ?" I answered
"I see you got your balls out boy, all right, I'll go to Dina's" He said
"Thanks Tommy" Said Ellie
"Please Tommy, don't tell Dina that we went out for Abby, just tell her we are on a very long patrol" I said
"Okay, don't worry Phil" He replied and we set off towards Santa Barbara
