CHAPTER 8

~~~Levi's POV~~~

We arrived at Trost to drop Erwin, Hange, and Miche. Erwin said that they'll stay behind to sort out some unfinished business before moving the entire regiment to the old headquarters. My squad and I, along with Luna and Eren are asked to head to the old castle earlier than the others so we can settle Eren immediately as per Commander-in-chief Dhalis Zachary's demand.

We went straight to the castle as soon as we got the necessities packed on the wagon. The rest of us rode our horses to go there while Luna had to ride the carriage due to her wound since it will be a long ride going to the castle, her horse was tied to the carriage where she could see her.

I heard the squad talking, "Why is she even coming with us? What if she's plotting something behind our backs?" Petra mutters.

"It was Commander Erwin who proposed her to join us. He wouldn't do that without thinking this through, so we have to trust him." Eld responds to her.

"Yeah. Besides, she's really strong. I mean, she knocked us all out back there. Even Captain." Gunther adds which caught Eren's attention.

"What? Really? She did that? That means she's very strong and skilled, right? So that was what she was saying back in the carriage earlier." He said as he looked back at me.

I glared at him, "Keep your eyes on the road, brat." He immediately looked forward.

"So, where is this old headquarters?" He changed the topic by asking.

"It's far from the city." Oluo answers to him. "It's an old castle. They said a noble family once lived there but they all died, so the Scouts used it as the headquarters before. Since it's in the middle of nowhere, it takes too long to go back and forth to the city. That's why we had to build another hq inside the town. But unfortunately, someone had to bomb it and now we're forced to go bac-" He stops talking as he accidentally bit his tongue. He deserved it for talking shit.

I looked back at the carriage. I glanced at Luna who was peacefully sitting there with her eyes closed. Not long after, we arrived at the castle. I placed my horse on the stables and went to the carriage. I knocked on the door before opening it. "We're here, your highness." I said sarcastically as I leaned my back on the carriage. She didn't answer me with her smart sarcastic remarks like I expected her to but instead, she stared at the castle. I thought I was seeing things but I'm sure I saw her eyes glow and change color. I was about to speak about it but it disappeared as soon as she blinked. What the fuck was that?

~~~Luna's POV~~~

I could hear everyone talking outside on our way to their old headquarters. I decided to close my eyes and stay quiet, I don't have enough energy to deal with them. I could feel someone's gaze on me and I know exactly who it is and decided to ignore it. Soon enough, I felt the carriage stop. I opened my eyes but stared at my bracelet. "This is it, brothers. There's no turning back now." I whisper at myself before someone knocked on the door.

"We're here, your highness." Levi sarcastically states as he opens the door of the carriage. I rolled my eyes and kept my riposte to myself as I stared at the castle in front of me.

An image of a family laughing and playing flashed to my eyes. It felt familiar to me like it was a memory that's been hidden in the back of my mind. But whose memory was it? It can't be mine as I have never been here before.

I'm sure my eyes glowed and I'm sure Levi saw it so I blinked immediately and acted like nothing happened. However, I can't help but feel a sudden pain in my head. I held my temples as I furrowed my eyebrows. I noticed Levi looking at me but he soon looked away and did the same. Is he still getting headaches? I shrugged off my thoughts as I stepped out of the carriage.
