~~~Luna's POV~~~
I woke up early today as usual. But what's surprising is that, I didn't get any nightmares. I actually slept peacefully last night, which is rare for me.
Today, I'll be visiting Farris and Mr. Emil to inform them about my agreement with Erwin regarding the Underground project. I didn't really notify anyone, except Erwin, that I'll be going to Wall Sina today. Of course I had to ask him permission, even though I didn't want to.
My horse, Leila, and I are now headed to Mitras. Despite the searing pain from my wound, I decided to ride alone with Leila to avoid attention within the headquarters. I took my time and didn't make Leila move too hasty to avoid adding discomfort to my stomach. It was wise to leave before dawn as the breeze was still calming and there weren't many people on the way.
The sunup is yet again beautifully painted. As I appreciate the morning sky, people are now starting their day in town. Busy streets and vendors on the side setting up their stalls and stores. A "Good morning" and "Good day" from here and there.
After a long trip, we arrived at the market inside wall Sina. I decided to buy fruits for Mr. Emil so I carefully descended my horse, holding her rein tightly. I walked around the town with her beside me as I scanned the stalls for fresh fruits. After a good few minutes of buying fruits, I led Leila towards the Underground. I decided to walk beside her as I slice some apples to feed her.
The watchmen saluted me as soon as they saw me. I tossed them each a sweet orange after tying Leila at the post beside the entrance. Soon enough, I was greeted by my favorite old man.
"Luna dear! How are you? What are you doing here?" Mr. Emil runs towards me as soon as he saw my walking figure.
I smile at him as I hand the bag of fruits to him, "I'm fine, I just wanted to visit you guys and update you on something."
"Come, come. Have they been treating you well? Tell me, do they feed you properly? Do they hurt you?" Mr. Emil checks me for bruises.
"Relax, I told you I'm fine. They're okay. No one dares to treat me badly or else I'll kick their sorry ass."
"But you look thinner and pale, my dear. Are you sure you're okay?" He looks at me with his usual worried eyes but I just gave him a reassuring smile as I nod.
"I'm fine."
A man came running towards us and I knew immediately who it was. "I came as soon as they told me you're here. Woah, you look bad. Why are you pale?" Farris, who was catching his breath, went to me and put a hand on my forehead.
"You look worse, what happened to you? Please don't tell me you burned the house down."
"I'm alright, it's just been really exhausting in the restaurant since you left. Everyone was missing your food and I've been trying hard to copy it but I guess you have some kind of witchcraft I don't possess since I can't get near your level. Don't get me wrong, my cooking is impeccable but I guess they want the voodoo more." We laugh as he waves his hand like an idiot and makes face emphasizing the 'voodoo'. He pulled me near as he held me in his arms. "Come here. I missed you, sunshine."
"You're so dramatic. I'd bet five euros you just want my recipe." I say as I hugged him back which earned a hit on the back of my head with a "Hey!" from him. I chuckled as I gently patted his back and leaned my head on his chest, "I miss you too, copycat."
We stayed at Mr. Emil's house to discuss the agreement with the Survey Corps. Surely, they were happy that they're withdrawing the Underground project and they're willing to help build the alternate base near the headquarters. We've chosen people who will go outside the Underground to assist in the construction. I've listed every man who will participate in this project and asked Farris to personally process the papers with the Military Police assigned in the Underground to give permission to them to go outside. Erwin and I will be providing the letters of request but I wanted Farris to deliver them to avoid conflicts.
