Alhaitham was returning from a walk when he passed by the Forest and noticed a commotion. He approached the noise, trying to figure out what was going on. That's when he saw Collei pop out behind a tree. She was startled when she saw him and was on her guard.
"What're you doing here?" She asked in a threatening tone.
"I am just looking," Alhaitham said.
"I swear if you crash their wedding, I'm going to–"
"Wedding?"
"Y-you don't know?" She said, relaxing her clenched fist, "Mater Tighnari and Cyno are getting married...isn't that why you came?"
"Oh...I didn't know. Sorry to bother," he said. He considered congratulating them but he figured that the best wedding gift he could offer was his disappearance. So he headed home.
He grabbed his keys, approaching his porch.
"Get over here!" Someone yelled. A blonde man was dashing down the street. He didn't see Alhaitham when he turned around the corner and bumped head first into him.
Alhaitham fell back, dropping his keys while the blonde guy stumbled on top of him. He stood up and glanced around in rage. "God damn it! Not again."
"Could you watch your step?" Alhaitham said. He held a hand to his forehead. It was definitely going to get bruised from that clumsy hard-headed idiot.
"You just had to come out of nowhere, didn't you? Ugh," the blonde guy said, stomping on the ground.
Alhaitham brushed the dust off of him. He wasn't having a good day to begin with and now this. "Me? You're the one who bumped into me without an 'excuse me' or 'sorry' and now my keys are missing thanks to you," he snapped back. He dropped to the floor, searching everywhere for the keys.
"Oh, my bad," the blonde man said. He cleared his throat and rested his hands on his hips. "I'm so sorry that you lost your keys. Truly, I'm devastating for you!"
Alhaitham glared up at him, knowing well from his dramatic attitude that the apology wasn't sincere.
"But I got scammed and lost my Mora thanks to you," he added.
Alhaitham chuckled standing up. "How dumb do you have to be to fall for a scam?"
The guy gasped, his face turning red from anger. "I- How dare you? Do you even know who I am?"
"No and I don't want to know. Get out of my way," Alhaitham said, and continued eyeing the pavement for his keys.
"I am Kaveh, an architect from the Akademiya," he ignored him and introduced himself anyway. "And someone who doesn't have the reflex to move aside when they see somebody in a hurry shouldn't go around calling other people dumb. That's just my humble opinion."
"Sounds more egotistical than humble," Alhaitham said.
Kaveh gasped again. He was unable to stand him. "Thanks to you, I'm completely out of Mora and have nowhere to go." He stood there, watching Alhaitham struggle and an idea popped into his head. "If I help you find your keys, will you let me stay at your place?" He suggested.
"Someone who was blind enough to not see where they were going can't be of much use in a situation like this. I'll find them on my own."
For the next hour, Kaveh sat at Alhaitham's doorstep, watching him lose his mind by the second. He could see the sweat rolling down Alhaitham's neck and it was somehow amusing to watch him get angry.
"Fine," Alhaitham said, giving up. "I guess you can help."
Kaveh flashed him a smile. He got up and slipped a hand out of his pocket, revealing the keys.
"You fucking pain in the ass," Alhaitham growled, snatching them from him.
"Heheh, you're welcome~"
He banged the door in Kaveh's face, shutting him out. "Oh come on! If you had agreed to my suggestion from the start instead of being stubborn, you would've been home way sooner, so don't blame this on me."
No answer.
"Come to think of it, I was very slick, was I not? I'd taken the key away the moment we fell. You didn't notice. If I hadn't told you, you wouldn't have the slightest idea. I can teach you tricks like that if you want. Never know when you'll need them...you didn't even tell me your name. Rude. So can I come in?"
Alhaitham unlocked the door and aggressively swung it open, almost hitting Kaveh in the head. "Only if you shut up."
Kaveh frowned at Alhaitham's actions and went inside. He found a chair by a nice vase of flowers and sat down, staring at Alhaitham across the room.
"Would you stop staring at me?" Alhaitham said.
"I'm waiting."
"For?"
"Oh, so not only are you blind, but deaf as well. Good to know. I asked what your name was, genius," Kaveh said.
"Alhaitham! Are you happy now?" He rubbed the bridge of his nose, trying to keep his shit together.
"...You really have no taste," Kaveh said, examining the interior design which had no thought put into it.
Alhaitham sighed. "You think you can do better? Go ahead. I'm going to sleep."
Kaveh narrowed his eyes on him as he left for his bedroom. He pulled a sketchbook out of his bag which was hung on one shoulder, resting below the other. He began plotting out everything he wanted to change about the decor.
A few hours later, Alhaitham woke up. He was taken aback when he stepped out of his room. Everything was changed around in a more open yet cozy layout. The arm chairs nicely faced each other with a vase between them by the window. Kaveh was passed out on one of the chairs, his hair a hot mess.
"And you say I'm stubborn," Alhaitham shook his head. He lifted Kaveh's hand and slipped the sketchbook from his lap. There was a rough drawing of Alhaitham on it. He was surprised that Kaveh had captured his features so accurately despite having just met. He pursed his lips. Kaveh at least could've drawn him not an angry beast.
He threw a blanket on him and made himself some tea. Did Tighnari and Cyno really get married? He hoped they'd find it in their hearts to forgive him for the things he did.
