Chapter 19

McKennas POV

After finishing those scenes a week ago, I've been finding myself avoiding Leo and instead spending more time with the others, Jesse in particular. I only went in for 2 days. Both days were scenes without Romeo which meant no Leo. There were a couple of times where we'd bump into each other and create civil small talk but that was about it.

When I felt like my past feelings of Leo were starting to uncover again I guess you could say I freaked out. I've decided it was better to try and pursue something with Jesse knowing that'd I would just end up hurt in the end. The thing is when Leo and I were younger I developed a crush on him. For years I had to hide my feelings to save our friendship but that didn't make a difference anyway.

To be honest, I couldn't get Leo out of my head. We went through so much together from being best friends to being arch nemesis for years. It was quite worrying to be bringing up these emotions after only having Leo back in my life for around a month. That's why I was so compelled to try things with Jesse, to try and get my feelings back on track.

"Morning beautiful" Jesse greeted as he kissed my cheek. We were up bright and early to go on a jog together.

We jogged along the beach as the sun started to rise. The cold breeze hitting my bare arms giving me a sense of adrenaline. Unfortunately, Jesse not so much.

"McKenna" Jesse stopped trying to catch his breath. "How are you not dying right now" he let out a shaky breath as he plopped onto a nearby bench

"Here" I said handing him my water bottle as he downed the beverage.

"I don't think I can go much farther" he said still trying to catch his breath. I brought my hands up to shield my eyes from the natural light and looked up at the path ahead

"You don't think you can go a little further? I know a great spot!" I said squinting back at him

"I really don't think I can" he said with a shameful look. I bounced between looking at him and the path ahead. For some reason something giving me the urge to continue

"Don't let me stop you, we can meet up for breakfast if you like?" I think I might go out for a little longer

"Only if that's ok with you? I just have so much energy" Jesse chuckled and nodded. He tried giving me back my bottle but I insisted he take it. I think he needed it more

After running for 20 minutes I reached my destination. When we first came to Mexico I discovered these hidden rock pools. I didn't have the time to check it out until now.

I slowly stepped onto the rocks and crouched down to look into the pools seeing if I could find any creatures hidden among the rocks

"Kenna?!" I immediately stood up. Almost to quick that I almost fell backwards into the water. Luckily an arm fell around my waist to stop me. I looked up to see blue eyes. Leo. How typical

"L-Leo" I stuttered now getting the sudden nerves "what are you doing here?" He just chuckled, pulling his arms away softly after he knew I had gotten balance

"I make my way to the beach each morning to collect some rubbish" he says as he held up a cardboard box full of litter. "I didn't know you'd be out so early" he said as he scratched the back of his neck also looking anywhere but my eyes. Oh how I just wished he'd look into my eyes again

"Wait you're collecting rubbish?" I said scrunching my nose only just realising he had the box in his hands

"Yeah?" He questioned as if I wouldn't be confused

"And why are you doing that?" I said as I start to make my way to the sand part of the beach. He made his way next to me.

"The beach is filthy, everyone just throws there rubbish everywhere" I nodded, continuing to stroll along the beach
