"I do want that too, I just didn't want to push a conversation you might not have wanted, especially since this wasn't a marriage you truly wanted" he admits quietly with a small sigh,

His gaze falls to the floor, and as his shoulders slump, his body grows tired in a way I can relate to,

My panic is finally subsided from moments before, leaving dried tears and a heavy heart in its memory, my hands continue to tremble slightly but I do my best to ignore them,

"I'm sorry for not paying enough attention to realize that you don't do well in public situations" he whispers, his face contorts in a frown as he thinks

I sigh, leaning my head against the wall, "you didn't know...and though I tried telling you, it isn't something you should Shoulder as your responsibility" I shake my head

A quiet overcome us both as we fight our internal battles, the world lives around us as we are still in the silence that overpowers us.

"I could've at least acknowledged you in our own home" he mutters disappointedly, fighting the war that roars deep within him,

"It's pointless to be so invested in a past that's unchangeable, the best way for us to move forward after this is to communicate...and at least find some sort of friendship in this mess," I speak more confidently at this moment than I ever thought possible

"I still apologize that I neglected your feelings...and you in general" he finally looks up, his eyes red and faces coated in regret,

I put my hand out "hi...I'm y/n, nice to meet you"

He fights a smile as he watches me and slowly puts his hand out to meet mine "hi, I'm h/n" he breathes a sigh of relief as our eyes connect and I meet him with a soft smile

"Let's go get to know each other I guess" he chuckles pulling me up and leading us toward the exit,

"But the event" My eyes widen at the realization,

"I'm choosing you" is his confession

It fills my body with warmth, at the mere realization that someone's choosing me, whether it took time or not,

"Hey! Where are you going h/n you're about to present" the man from before screams as h/n continues to pull me away from everyone and outside to the car.
