When I wake up, my head pounds, but it feels better when I feel a cool towel being placed on my forehead,

"How are you feeling?" H/n's voice is gentle,

I open my eyes, and see he's sitting on the edge of the bed, placing a thermometer back onto my nightstand after checking my temperature,

"Tired" I mumble

He nods, looking at me, and I don't see that same annoyance and urgency to leave as I did on our wedding day,

He looks concerned, and like my presence isn't a curse upon his life.

"You hungry?" He asks moving my hair away from my face,

"Umm...a little" I whisper

He nods "I thought so, you've been pretty much asleep all day long, thankfully your fever has gone down with rest"

I furrow my brows "I've been sleeping all day?"

He nods,

"I'm...I'm sorry" I whisper in defeat,

He looks confused "What are you sorry for?"

"Did you eat today? Did you get any work done with having to check on me?"

He looks almost sad, as he watches me, his shoulders drop "Y/n..." he whispers

"Yeah?" I respond swallowing hard,

"You're not my maid, or servant...or mother like I've told you, you don't have to feed me, or clean for me, you're your own person, an am I, just because we've been forced into this marriage doesn't mean you have to do everything for me" his voice is stern, yet a twinge of sadness remains in his voice

I open my mouth to argue, but his large palm covers it "Whatever your parents have manipulated you into thinking...ignore it"

"We're married...we're equals in this arrangement. There's no power play, this isn't you having to do all the cooking and cleaning while I do work, it's a partnership, where there are days I'll cook and clean, and you rest, and some days I'm tired after work, and maybe you can make us dinner if that something You want."

"If you're tired...tell me, and I'll take care of you, I want this arrangement to work, but if a friendship only forms between us that's okay too" his words make me tear up,

It's the opposite of the way my parents have made me believe I'd be treated,

"Don't cry sweetheart, it's okay" he whispers, running his thumb along my cheek to wipe my tears,

When I calm down, and the tears subside, that's when he speaks.

"I'll go heat the soup I made so you can eat, I'll be back in a few minutes okay?" His caresses my cheek, as he speaks

I nod my head lulling to the side at his warm palm "Thank you"
