Yedam walks outside the convenience store after buying something. It's just been a week since he broke up with Dami but he's kinda okay now, surprisingly. He didn't move on completely, he just feel better

He put the bag of what he brought, in the back of his car and was about to go inside the car and go home but he spotted a familiar male standing at the bus stop, not far from the convenience store. It is him, he can clearly tell

He closes back his car and runs toward the guy

Doyoung was peacefully waiting for the bus to arrive when he suddenly heard a familiar voice call his name. "Kim Doyoung!" He turned around and saw Yedam walking towards him. His heart skipped a beat and his stomach clenched. He immediately stood up and tried to walk away from the guy, but Yedam grabbed his wrist, making him stop

"Doyoung-ah" Yedam called again. "Can we talk? Please"

Talk? For the past few weeks, whenever they talked about things, it didn't go very well. So Doyoung doubted that this talk would end up well. "I- I'm sorry, but I really have to go" Doyoung said, looking away from Yedam's pleading eyes

But being the stubborn person that he was, Yedam didn't let go of the guy. "Please, Doyoung. Just a minute"

Doyoung sighed and finally looked at the guy. "Yedam. Please, I'm in a hurry. I have to go" Doyoung said. "I don't want to talk with you right now. And maybe your girlfriend will hate me if I get close to you again"

Doyoung felt a pang of bitterness as he mentioned Yedam's girlfriend. He hated her with every fiber of his being. She was the reason why Yedam and Doyoung drifted apart. She was the reason why Yedam broke Doyoung's heart

"Dami and I already broke up" Yedam said, surprising Doyoung

Doyoung blinked twice. Was he hearing that right? "Y- You and Dami..."

"Yeah, we broke up" Yedam repeated, loosening the grip on Doyoung's wrist

Doyoung feels a surge of mixed emotions. He feels sorry for Yedam, he feels sad for his pain, he feels glad for his realization. But he also feels resentful, he feels betrayed, he feels unforgiving. He doesn't know what to say, what to do. He wants to comfort Yedam, he wants to hug him, he wants to tell him that everything will be alright. But he also wants to push him away

The silence was too loud. Both didn't know what to do in the situation

"Doyoung-ah... I'm sorry" the guy started. "For what I did the last time. I'm sorry if I didn't trust you" He said, but it seemed like the other didn't care about it. But he continued apologizing nonetheless. "It turns out, you were right. Dami was cheating on me" He said, his voice cracking

Doyoung continued to give the older a silent treatment. He really wanted to comfort the guy right now, but something was telling him not to. Maybe it was just the part of him that was mad at Yedam

Yedam sees Doyoung's reaction, or lack thereof. He feels a wave of despair, of hopelessness. He realizes that Doyoung doesn't want to talk to him, doesn't want to forgive him, doesn't want to be friends with him. He understands that he's lost him, he's lost his chance

He lowers his head, he wipes his tears, he swallows his pride. He says one last thing, one last sorry, one last goodbye "I'm really sorry for what I did" Yedam said once again. He already knew that the guy would never forgive him. But he still had a small hope that Doyoung would. "I'm sorry for bothering you. I'll be going now" Yedam said, turning his back from the guy and walking away slowly

He mutters a soft "sorry" and walks away. He doesn't look back. He doesn't see the change in Doyoung's expression. He doesn't hear the call of his name

Doyoung snaps out of his trance. He realizes what he is about to lose. He realizes what he really wants

He wants Yedam. He runs after him

"Yedam"

Yedam stops walking and looks behind him, seeing Doyoung following him. "You know, I hate you so much. After what you did, I want to ignore you, heck I want to forget everything about you and our friendship" Doyoung started

"But you're my best friend after all. It's impossible for me not to care about you. It's impossible for me to just forget and ignore you" he subtly smiles in front of Yedam

Yedam feels a pang of guilt in his chest. He knows he messed up big time. He betrayed Doyoung's trust and hurt him deeply. He doesn't deserve his forgiveness, but he still hopes for it

"Doyoung, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I know I said it a million times, but I really mean it. I don't know what came over me. I was stupid and selfish and I regret it so much. Please, please forgive me" Yedam pleads, tears welling up in his eyes

Doyoung sighs and shakes his head. He can see the sincerity in Yedam's face, but he can also feel the pain in his heart. He doesn't want to lose his best friend, but he also doesn't want to be hurt again

"Yedam, do you know how much you hurt me? Do you know how much I trusted you? How much I cared for you? How much I loved you?" Doyoung asks, his voice cracking

Yedam nods, sobbing. He knows. He knows all too well. He feels the same way for Doyoung. He loves him more than anything. He wishes he could take back what he did. He wishes he could erase the past and start over

"I know, Doyoung. I know. And I love you so much. You're my best friend. I don't want to lose you. Please, please give me another chance. Please let me make it up to you" Yedam begs, reaching out for Doyoung's hand

Doyoung looks at Yedam's hand, then at his face. He sees the desperation, the remorse, the love. He feels a surge of emotion, a mix of anger, sadness, and love. He doesn't know what to do. He wants to push Yedam away, but he also wants to pull him close

He makes a decision. He takes Yedam's hand and pulls him into a hug. He wraps his arms around him and holds him tight. He feels Yedam's arms around him, his body shaking, his breath warm on his neck. He hears Yedam's voice, whispering apologies. He feels his own tears falling, wetting Yedam's hair

He whispers back "I forgive you, Yedam. I forgive you. But don't ever do that again. Don't ever hurt me again. I love you, Yedam. You're my best friend"

They stay like that for a long time, holding each other, crying, healing. They don't care about the world around them, the people passing by, the time passing by. They only care about each other, their friendship, their love

They finally break the hug and look into each other's eyes. They see the pain, the forgiveness. They smile, a bittersweet but genuine smile. They feel their wounds healing

They pull away and hold each other's hands. They walk away, together, happier. They know they still have a lot to work on, a lot to talk about, a lot to heal from. But they also know they have each other, their friendship. And that's enough for them. That's all they need
