《[•°○THE DAY BEFORE - CONTINUED○°•]》

The class ruffled through their book bags, tucking away their folders, notebooks, and pencil pouches. Zippers sounded and chairs slid across the carpet floor as the students stood up, slinging their bags over their shoulders.

"I'd love to hear your reading responses before next class!" Said the professor. He straightened his tie and leaned both palms on the desk in front of him. "If you have any questions, feel free to meet me during my office hours. You are dismissed, enjoy your day!"

Several students had already left the room before his final announcement; others had quickly made their way over to do the same, Rubin being one of them. But, before he could make it past the door, the Professor caught sight of him.

"Ah, Rubin Castro," started the professor, stopping him in his tracks. The boy rolled his eyes before turning with a smile to face the man.

"Hi, Professor Amos, how are you?"

"How am I?" He scoffed, chuckling after. "How are you? Surely you know you wrote one of the best papers I have ever read, truly!" The man gleamed at the student, sincerely amazed at the work he created. "I'm telling you, you have the making of an excellent Essayist."

Rubin couldn't help but relax his shoulders and laugh. "I, uh, like the alliteration you did there at the end. Thanks, Professor Amos." Though he appreciated the compliments, he didn't have the time to stick around. But, Amos grabbed him by the shoulder and held him back.

"Seriously, Rubin, you might think I'm joking, but I'm not." He let go and crossed his arms. "The way you made the analogy between the 'Mutant Infestation' that's running rampant in our present day with the textual readings we're discussing in class, it was marvelous!" He noticed the glint in Rubin's eyes, as if he was giving his full attention once again. "I'm offering you the opportunity to speak at the conference I'm attending. I'll lead one half of the panel and you can speak during the other, what do you say?"

Rubin shook his head and bit the inside of his cheek, looking around the near-empty room with straggling students. "Um, I don't know..." He then looked to Amos and saw the hope lingering in his eyes. The offer was tempting; he did believe in the fight against the Mutants in pursuit of justice and peace. It was a passion of his to inform the public of their hazardous presence. He made up his mind. "Sure, I'll take it."

Amos clapped his hands as the growing smile sprawled across his face. "Aha! Excellent, just excellent!" He hurried over to his satchel and pulled out a manilla folder with papers and forms inside. "Here you go, everything there is to know about the conference. You've already done the hardest part which is to write the essay! Just tweak it up accordingly, good luck!"

Rubin gladly took the folder into his hand, raising it as if giving a toast in thanks. The two of them nodded to the other before parting ways outside the classroom.

The boy puffed out his cheeks and quickly skimmed the folder's contents. The first two papers explained the event's schedule, along with the expectations and requirements for the panel speakers. The event circled around prominent issues and topics that affected everyday life, people's analysis and theoretical solutions.
