Chapter 8: Oh, dear

2nd pov,

You blinked multiple times, head tilted to the side of your shoulder with eyes widening slightly towards the sage in mixed emotion. Your jaw drop to the ground and closed repeatedly but nothing came out of it, it takes you a couple of minutes before you finally could speak "Nah, I'm not. You might have the wrong person"

You laughed nervously, refusing to accept what you had just been told. 'This must be a fever dream, no way it's real' you thought but the smile twitched when Monkey King sat there with the same expression and seems like he did not understand why do you laugh at it. He shook his head with the statement

"No-No, it's true, you are the former snake warrior, y/n. I've been living my whole life and I knew pretty well about them...well not all" he said. Mk on the other side keep his mouth silent place also was too surprised when he just knew. After the whole year, he's befriended a warrior.

Monkey King watch as you struggle to make more excuse but only came was the unintelligent whispers escape from your lips "Alright, I know it's weird but let me explain" he burp silently

"You see, this guardian has this blue blood which it didn't explain what is it or how it came. But all I knew Is that... They are some kind of healing? I think so. Also, you are one because of how the wound didn't heal since you're in the state of um- a lower level of magic or maybe simply just your skin, I guess"

"So that's explained how I punch the redhead. Giving a lot of damage to him is something not normal," you said to yourself

Monkey King blink at your words "what?"

Mk joined in "The time we stopped Redson from taking over the weather station! Y/n punch him so hard and blew him across the places"

Mk said he was shocked by the reason. Monkey King raised his eyebrow, unexpected you just awaken your power already "Oh, so you did active it"

Scratched your neck, you sigh "yeah, I don't know how. But I think I was too scared to get hit and just blast it off. But when I used them, my whole body and energy just wiped out to empty" you explained, you could still feel the pain. The incident isn't what you wanted to experience again

He nodded slowly, lifting his chin "I think you bring the negative emotion too high and accidentally activated them. But you still didn't know how to control them that's why you felt the way" he explained

He explained "I assume like that" he muttered, grabbing some piece of paper and folding it, putting it on the edge of the table "What's this?" You grab them

A piece of red sheet with golden reborn around it. The texture was hard and it's obvious how long this had been keeping on. Slowly you loosen it because of how fragile it was

In it reveal to be a...symbol? You slide your index finger to the golden unknown symbols in each line. Perplexed every second "what do you want me to do with this?"

"I don't know, guardian stuff. I can't read them only you could" he shrugged "I wish I could tell more but I'm running out of time. There's an important thing I need to do" he sigh letting his neck crack and a sting snapped on his muscle "Uh- it's okay! Hah- is that what you wanted to talk about? Is there more or..."

"Oh yeah-yeah. There is something I forgot to tell you" he leaned slowly but not that close "Stay away from demons. They want that thing inside you," he said

You inhale deeply, the sound of his tone seemingly did not practical that great "What thing?" "Your power. Uh- the guardian power, without it you basically... Dead"

Mk is the one who overreacts, gasps when he hears the word 'Dead' and begins to panic while you just stay speechless "dead?"

"You see, the power you hold inside you is also connected with your life and soul. Once it is removed, you'll just perish"

"So I don't need organs to live?"

"I guess so...well not really, you still need your body- I don't know"

"Oh, dear" you run your shaky finger to your hair and grip them. Anxious and perplexed, eyes darting all around the living room. Monkey King patted your back trying to calm you down "Relax, it isn't easy to just rip that thing off from you. There need rituals and magic to even have it, so don't worry your 'pretty little head about it"

Just be careful- okay? Me and Mk we'll protect you... Right kid?" He glances at Mk who only nodded

Mk shifted from the couch "does y/n is in trouble?"

"Not really, if demons did not know then everything stays fine" he paused "But I guess the demons already knew it now"

You bit your lower lips, at this point, you have to use the danger life from now on...

After the conversation, Monkey king says goodbye to you before leaving the apartment "Sorry if the information isn't that much" he chuckles.

You shook your head, shaking your head "again, it's okay. I'm glad you did come and tell me about this... It still feels weird, to be honest. Especially, having no idea what's going on... I mean- I have this huge title that I'm not used to it! Man, it's crazy" you said, waving your arm around the empty air

Monkey King smiled, his golden eyes haven't moved away since the beginning he talked to you. He looks at the distance and the light city, the twinkling stars shining up against the dark sky, he glances at you again while you are still rambling and bumbling around

"Y/n"

You stopped when you hear him calling your name, raising an eyebrow at him "yes, Monkey king?"

"You're going to be fine"

"I hope so, Monkey king..."

"Wukong is enough"

You coughed, surprised by the request "you serious? Are you okay with that? I mean-"

"Yes, I'm okay with it" he laughed, seeing you with a worried expression, already getting missing the old time. He summons a cloud out of nowhere and jumped up to it "I'll meet you again when I have the time. I'll update you if there's anything you should know"

You watched as he flew away at a speed, leaving you alone to stare at the night distance. A short flash of deja vu appears in your mind, somehow the moment earlier seems familiar. But you can't get your fingers onto it...

Surprised and bewildered. You went back to the apartment to join Mk who is having the sleepover tonight with you.
