Scared
Shivers ran up Shelis' back. Two hours and it'd be over. Two hours seemed longer than a decade in the cramped space, goose-bumps burning on her skin, water dripping on her head, down her face, into her soaked clothing. But scared as she was, cold as she was, none of it was worse than going out there before dawn.
Between breaths she heard groans, creaks, moans, and imagined a demon unfurling its wings, slavering drool on a victim's severed limb. A whimper escaped her, she grabbed her mouth shut. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid!
Claws scratched at the stones above her head.
