Why Me?

{chapter 20}

I woke up blurry, In a hospital bed. The nurses looked at me. With wide eyes. "Omg she's awake" the nurse said. "What's going on?" I asked the nurse.

She looked at me with sadness. "Uhm.... you have cancer" the nurse said. "No, no, no it can't be true" I said as I started crying. "How long do I have left?" I asked with tears streaming down my face.

"You only have 12 hours" she said, as I felt my heart break. "Can you call in my husband Jake?" I asked felling broken.

"Yeah sure" she said as she walked out of the room.

How could it be. I can't just leave. I can't do this. I thought with tears streaming down my face.

"Jake!" I yelled as he came into the room. "Hey Violet, what did they tell you? Why are you crying?" He asked me. I couldn't do this to him.

"Jake, I have... I-i cant" I tried to say it but I couldn't. "Hey it's gonna be alright just tell me" he said with concern in his voice.

"I have... I have cancer" I said. "Don't joke with me V" he said as tears rolled down his face. "Yeah Jake, I have only 12 hours left" I said as my voice cracked. "You can't leave me V"

He said with pain in his voice. "Can you call everyone here?" I asked. "Yeah of course" he said as he cried.

"Hey Sam" Jake said as his voice cracked. "What's wrong Jake, is everything alright?" Sam asked. "No, can you please tell everyone to come to the hospital?"

Jake asked. "Yeah we'll be there soon" Sam said as he hung up. Jake came up and hugged me as I sat up and hugged him too. "You can't leave me V, not like this" he said as we both cried into each others shoulders.

A couple minutes later all our friends came in the room. "Hey what's wrong why are you crying?" Kat asked. "Guys I have to tell you something" I said as more tears rolled down.

"What is it?" Colby asked. "Uhm.. I have cancer" I said as my voice cracked. "No, you can't" kat said as she came over and hugged me.

"How long do you have left?" Devyn asked. "12 hours" I said as I started to cry even more. "This can't be true" kat said as she started crying.

" I can't believe this" kat said as they all started crying.

"Can we guys stop crying, and spend some time together while we still can" I said with a chuckle as I whipped my tears away.

We all sat there talking for a couple of hours. As the nurse came in. "Hello, is everything alright?" She asked me. "Yeah" I said with a soft smile. "Okay looks like you have 2 more hours left, spend it good" she said as she walked out of the room.

"I have an idea" Jake Said. "What is it?" Sam asked. "Every ten minutes we each have some time to spend with Violet alone" Jake said with glassy eyes. "Okay, you can go first, we will wait outside" Sam said as they all left leaving me and Jake alone.

"I am going to spend these 10 minutes with you the best as I can" Jake said with a smile as a tear rolled down his face.

"Violet, you have made me the happiest man alive, you make me smile, laugh and you make me feel like I have a reason to be here. You are the reason I am this happy, with you around I feel home. I can be myself when I am around you. I love you Violet. Don't ever forget that. I love you and I always will"

Jake said as he started crying. He kissed me and I kissed him back. "I love you too Jake, and I always will, no matter what, I will always love you" I said as tears streamed down my face.

"Okay, I will see you soon I have to get the other person" he said as he left the room. Then Kat walked in.

"Hey Violet" she said with a forced smile. "Hey Kat" I said as I hugged her. "Violet, you have been an amazing friend to me I love you. I can always feel safe around you, I appreciate that you have made me and others so happy, it's going to be hard Lossing you, but remember. I will always love you" kat said as tears rolled down her face.

"I love you too Kat" I said as I hugged her. "I'll see you later, I will bring in the next person" she said as she left.

Everybody had talked to me and I had only 30 minutes left.

"Hello guys, I think it's time to say goodbye now" the nurse said as she walked out.

Jake sat besides me and held my arm. "We love you Violet" kat Said. As I hugged her one last time. I hugged everyone. "I love you guys, I may now go to sleep" I said as I closed my eyes.

Jake's pov:

"I love you Violet" I said as she closed her eyes. I held her hand and felt her hand go numb. I sat there crying for 10 minutes before a nurse walked in. "I need you to step out of the room"

The nurse said as we all stood up and left. I can't believe I just lost her.
