Chapter 2

"What's the problem Mrs. Payne?", I asked in soft voice.

I went straight to Liam and his mother.

"Could you come with us? Our house is really close to

yours. Before I could even look at Liam, he was 

running away, it seemed as his mum knew where

he was going. However, I was a bit confused.

I've already phoned your mum", she said.

I just nodded and followed her to the house. 

After a 10-minutes-walk I could finally see a small

house at the end of the street. I've never seen this

house before even though I lived here now for 2 years.

The railings were painted dark-brown and the house

front was painted with some sort of lemon yellow. 

As I entered the house, I could hear someone was playing

the piano. It was a slow and pained melody.

"That's just Liam, playing the piano. Oh and you can

call me Karen", Mrs. Payne said.

So Liam just went home earlier to play the piano? 

"So what's the problem, Mrs. Karen?", I asked her gently.

"Well, I know, that Liam hasn't got much friends.

He never had. I don't know why, but it was very brave

of you defending him, even if they are your friends. 

Well, now I know why she knows how I am, I thought.

"Only Kate is my friend. Since they bully Liam,

I don't like them anymore", I answered. 

"However.. It may sound ridiculous now but

could you take care of him when he's not at home?

He's really shy and he easily gets hurt", she asked me.

"Sure. He's a nice boy, I promise, I will", I replied.

"Then could you visit him now? He's in his room."

It was a strange situation. Liam barely talked to

me but I should take care of him, even If I was a 

little girl. 

I went upstairs and knocked at his roomdoor. "Liam?"

The door was full of stickers with Disney characters.

"Who's there?" He sounded hurt.

"It's me, Emily. Can I come in?"

I got no reply so I carefully opened the door.

"What do you want? Do you want to insult me,

like your friends?", he asked with a low voice.

"You know I'm not like them. I don't judge you. I like you",

I slowly replied. Why did he think that I was like them?

I've never bullied him or said anything to him. 

He looked at me with glassy eyes. "Uhm.."

I walked around his room, looking at all the

toys he got in his room. It was amazing how much toys

of Disney he had. They were all so colorful. I looked

at the Toy Story watch on his wall, realising it was

time for me to go home. 

"Liam, I have to go now", I said.

He didn't answer and continued playing the piano.

I turned away but suddenly I heard him falling on

the floor. I kneeled down and poked Liam waiting

for him to answer but he didn't. I was overcharged.

"KAREN, QUICKLY. SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH LIAM", I yelled.
