Chapter 5

.."Before I tell you what I wanted to tell you..", he started.

"Yeah?" - "Who did you met before you came here?", he asked.

"It was just Boris, unfortunately. He talked rubbish, like always",

I stuttered. I've never been good at lying and Liam could feel it.

"Rubbish? Which rubbish?", he asked me.

"It was unimportant.. I didn't listen. Forget about it", I said.

Though I knew that Boris was lying, I was a bit insecure.

"So what did you want me to tell?", I started a hare.

"Even if it might sound weird, I want to go to the X-Factor",

he mumbled in a cracked voice as tears were falling down

on the roots of the big tree.

"Hey, Liam. Look at me. Why are you sad? You surely will

impress the audition and you'll show them!", I replied.

"I'm scared of the bullies. That they will laugh at me and

bully me even more", he whispered and trying not to cry.

You stood up and hugged him. He didn't deserve all the

bullying. He was such a lovely boy and he would never

hate or bully anyone.

"Do it Liam. Prove them you're much better than them."

Liam smiled, tears still filling his eyes as he said:

"But please promise me, that you won't watch my

audition. Otherwise I'm too excited."

I nodded as I bowed out and left, heading home.

Weeks passed and Liam practiced really hard for his

audition at the X-Factor. We always met under the

big tree and he sang to me there. One day, one of

the bullies were watching a video of Liam,

singing in primary school. They were laughing

about him, except Boris. He was just looking at

it and then he looked at Liam, there were no

expressions on his face. Was he really afraid

of Liam? I still didn't think that Boris was hit

by Liam or that Liam would beat his sisters.

He would never do anything like that.

Liam slowly got used to the hate but seeing the

old video of himself obviously hurt him.

One day, Liam was sitting on of the roots like always

and sang to me. Suddenly he stopped and looked at me.

"Can you promise me something?", he asked in a soft voice.

"Sure, what?", I replied with a calm voice.

"Please promise me, that you'll always be there.

That we will always be friends", he stuttered.

Suddenly, a cold breeze whirled the fallen leaves

around his face, as I could see his glancing big

brown eyes, staring at me.

I smiled. "Of course Liam, you're my best friend.

You can always count on me, you know."

He stood up, came closer and gave me a little kiss

on the cheek. Although it was quite cold outside,

I could feel his warm lips on my cold cheeks.

"Thanks", he whispered.

Then he stood up and looked up to the big tree,

slowly losing it's leaves. You closed your eyes

to feel the cold breeze passing your warm body.

"Why did he kiss me on the cheeks.. He never

did this before..", I thought by myself.

As I opened my eyes, Liam was gone.

"Liam?", I hollered. Nothing but the wind was answering.
