Cami had heard the start of Kol's warning, but she still thought Vincent deserved to know about her dark object collection – and, well, Pri was their assigned vampire bodyguard. And she was MJ's friend. That had to mean something. So, Cami led them into Kieran's secret apartment.

"How long have you been a vampire?" Cami tried to make polite conversation during the walk.

"A few years now."

They'd already started to melt together.

"Did you choose to turn?"

She nodded.

Awkward pause.

"It is weird to ask why?"

Pri smiled, "Not at all."

Cami unlocked the door.

"My brother was turned on accident."

The nicer way of phrasing it.

"If he's going to live forever? Well...I didn't want him doing that alone."

Vincent was keeping quiet, unsure how to feel.

"And, I mean," Her hands came out, "I love it; freedom to do whatever, forever."

"Not daunted by it?"

"I think there's a weird perception around immortality," Pri dumped her bag by the door, "We aren't unkillable."

Hardly unkillable.

"I can live, in the way I want to, for as long as I need."

If she got lucky.

"When I think I've done everything I want? When I know my brother's found happiness? Who knows what I'll do."

Cami's face was slack, "You'd kill yourself?"

"I'd get someone else to do it," Pri looked around the barely decorated place, "But living forever isn't actually about forever. It's about options. Setting boundaries. Knowing when to let go, and move on – because, one day, I might want to."

She wasn't naive enough to think that vampirism would be perfect forever.

"I'm in love with a mortal witch."

Even if they were on a break.

"We might adopt children. They might have grandchildren. And I'll be there as a constant, then I might just be around forever, but...one day I'll probably wanna join her. We both find peace, knowing we lived how we wanted."

"And she's okay with that?"

"We respect each other's attitudes."

"And this investigation into Lucien," Vincent called out, "You've got another motivator to have you digging this deep."

"He's hiding something," She sighed, "Selene thinks focusing on it is irrelevant since it's not really connected to the stuff she cares about – "

"What is it connected to?" Cami moved to the kitchen table, where her Lucien notes were.

"Why buy land in The Bayou?"

"He's a vampire," Cami went with the most straightforward reason, "He wanted to get rid of the wolves."

"That's what I thought originally," She nodded, "His company has an office in New York too."

Vincent knew that bit, "Got you on his case by hurting your wolves."

"His accounts are a mess," She repeated, "Deliberately so."

"'Cos he's hiding something."

"Bank transfers to accounts I can't trace."
