After selling the cow, Peter went home and because the Market wasn't far from where he and his mother lived, he got home by evening.

"Back already, Peter?" said Rosetta "I don't see Grace with you, I assumed you sold her. How much did you get for her?" she asked.

"Mother, You have no idea." answered Peter. "Five pounds? Ten? Fifteen? No, it can't be Twenty." said Rosetta as she guessed how much her son paid for Grace.

"I told you you couldn't guess. What do you say to these beans? They're magical. Plant them overnight and..."

"What?!" exclaimed Rosetta. "You're such a fool to give away Grace, the best milker in the parish, and prime beef to boot, for a set of lousy beans?" said Rosetta who was lecturing her son.

"No Supper tonight for you young man." said Rosetta scolding the boy.

Peter went upstairs to his little room in the attic, feeling guilty and sorry for what he did. He felt terrible for his mother's sake for the loss of his supper.

At last, he fell asleep.
