"Okay, you know what," you said because you didn't want this to turn into a fight, "we will try tomorrow. We call it quits today and go to bed and tomorrow, early in the morning after we are done with morning chores," you look over to Tsireya and Ao'nung, "we will meet you guys here?" You look at the group as they nod in agreement.

"I thought they are our 'new responsibility' " Ao'nung exaggerated on the 'new responsibility' bit.

"Yes Ao'nung," you look at the forest people, "they are, but that's the only thing that changed, we still have to help the village. And do our morning chores" you say as you push him slightly.

Everyone chucked and started walking towards their huts.

Looking up to the dark sky, you think back to the conversation you had with Tsireya the other day. You smiled to yourself as you realized that indeed today was just as fun as yesterday.

The next day, you were full of energy.

You were excited about the rendé vu with the Sully kids, and mostly with Neteyam. There was something about him that you just found attractive, beside his looks of course. He understood your jokes and was fun to be around. Even though today was your second day meeting him, you felt very connected to him, like you knew him all your life.

Nothing could ruin your spirit today, even the voices of your parents in the back of your head. Now that you got something new to worry about, you didn't really listen to them.

But that also reminded you to ask Tonowari something. You look for the chief and spot him at a beach.

You come close to him and wait until he stops talking to some Metkayina people. Finally you announce,

"I see you, father" you gesture to him.

"I see you too, daughter," he did it back. "What brings you here? Aren't you supposed to be helping your siblings with chores?" he asked, as he gestured to the Metkayina people who he was taking to, to leave.

"I woke up earlier today, so I finished earlier, Father" you say.

"That's good"

You look around, "There was something I wanted to ask you"

"Well go ahead daughter" he smiled.

You smiled back but the smile quickly faded, "It's about my parents," you look down to the sand, "my real parents"

"What about them?" he asked, a bit concerned with a hint of confusion.

"I just keep thinking back to the day they went missing," you explain, still looking down, as you kick some sand off your feet, "I didn't tell anyone they went missing.. but you and Mother somehow knew" you finish and finally look up at his face.

"Well," he cleared his voice, "a chief always knows," he joked.

There was something he was hiding.

"I didn't tell anyone though, how could you know they went missing?" you press on. You studied his face trying to see what he was hiding.

"This conversation is over" He announced as he turned around and started walking towards the village.

"But father-"

He just kept walking.

You groan loudly as you kick the sand, hard.

"Calm yourself down" you say to yourself. You breathe in and out.

"This will not ruin your mood" You try to smile, but fail. Groaning again you start walking towards the meeting spot the group decided on yesterday.
