Don't Let Go

Part 3

The next morning Caleb woke up to his alarm at 6:30, neither Betty nor Ben woke up so he let them sleep a little longer. Then he woke Betty up.

Caleb- When you were asleep last night I went to CVS to get you something, please take this with you upstairs, okay?

She nodded and the two of them quietly went upstairs and got ready for school. Betty got dressed and did her hair before looking into the bag and seeing a Plan B in the CVS bag. She sighed and took the pill, knowing what could happen. Then before going back down she went to Caleb's bedroom.

Caleb- Hey, did you take it?

Betty- Y-Yeah. (tears)

Caleb- I'm sorry, Ben wanted to take you to the hospital but I thought this would be the safer option. I know you shouldn't have to be worrying about this at all, it's terrible what he did to you, but we need to be safe about this.

Betty nodded and looked down at the ground while Caleb wrapped his arms around her.

Caleb- Are you ready to go?

She nodded once again and walked downstairs with her brother next to her. Hal was downstairs making breakfast, but he didn't make anything for her so she got herself a bowl of cereal and quickly ate. Then as soon as they were done, they ran out the door.

The whole walk to school Betty held onto Caleb's. But once they were at school they got their schedules and had to go to their different classes. Betty was okay being alone since she knew her dad couldn't get to her, but as she was going to her classes she kept noticing a cute boy looking at her.

And finally once the lunch block rolled around, the boy had walked up to her, but he was with another girl.

???- Hi, um, I'm Jughead, I noticed that you're new here and I was wondering if you needed any help with anything?

Betty- Oh, I-I'm okay, thank you.

Jughead- C-Cool...

???- Oh my god, you two are both so bad at talking to new people.

Jughead- Toni, shut it.

Toni- Hi, I'm Toni, we were wondering if you wanted to join us for lunch?

Betty- Oh, yeah, sure.

Toni- And thats how its done, Jug. What's your name by the way?

Betty- I'm Betty.

Toni- Betty, I like it. Well, Betty, this dummy was telling me about this "pretty new
student" and wanted to ask you to join us for lunch but he sucks at having conversations with people he doesn't know. So I am sorry in advance for his awkwardness.

Jughead- Topaz! Shut up! (softly)

Betty blushed while Toni took Bettys arm in hers, then the two of them began walking to lunch while Jughead followed behind, being extremely embarrassed. The three of them walked into the cafeteria and sat down together getting to know more about each other.

Jughead- So, Betty, why did you and your family move from?

Betty- Um, New York City.

Toni- I love New York! I lived there when I was younger, but moved here a couple of years ago.

Jughead- Why'd you move right now? It's gotta be weird switching schools in the middle of a semester, right?

Betty- Yeah, it is...w-we um, we had a family situation and had to move. My mom grew up here so we thought this would be a good place to move back to. (softly)

Jughead- Nice! Well, our families should get together sometime, my dad has lived here since he was a kid so he'll probably know your mom!

Betty- U-Um, y-yeah, m-maybe. (softly)

Toni- Okay, let's get off the topic of family...Betty, do you have a boyfriend?

Betty- (blushes) N-No, I do not.

Toni- I don't, but I do have a girlfriend. She's sick today, but you can meet her tomorrow!

Betty- Oh, so, you two are just friends then?

Toni- Yes, I am Bi, but lord, I could not date him!

Jughead- Hey, what's wrong with me?

Toni- A lot of things, but I am not going to list everything right now.

Jughead- Damn, Toni, you really want to make this girl hate me don't you? (softly)

Toni- Oh hush, you're fine.

Betty giggled and they continued talking for a while until they had to go to their last few classes, but once their day was over Betty saw Jughead and Toni in the hallway and decided to walk over to them.

Jughead- Hey Betty, do you want to hang with us for a while? We have to work on the school newspaper.

Betty- I would love too, but I should probably get home.

Toni- Just for a little?

Betty- S-Sure, why not.

The three of them walked into one of the classrooms, the blue and gold, and they began writing together. But honestly they spent most of their time talking.

Toni- Well, I mostly just take photos for the newspaper but I usually hang out with Jughead in here to keep him company.

Jughead- Shut up, Toni.

Betty looked down and laughed before Jughead spoke again.

Jughead- So you've written for a newspaper before?

Betty- Yeah, I used to write at my old school but it got hard when...

Jughead- When what?

Betty- N-Nothing never mind.

Suddenly Caleb ran in, interrupting their conversation.

Caleb- Betty we need to go now.

Betty- Why?

Caleb- Dad's mad we're late just come on.

He ran out of the classroom and Betty stood up, she was about to run out but before she did she looked towards Jughead and Toni.

Betty- T-Thank you guys, but I have to go. (softly)

Jughead- Okay..?

She ran out of the classroom and Caleb grabbed her hand, then they ran home as fast as possible. But as soon as they got in the door their dad looked so angry.

Hal- What took you so fucking long?!

Caleb- I'm sorry dad, we had to get all of our work from our teachers to make sure we got caught up on everything. It took a little longer than expected.

Hal- Caleb, you don't need to talk for her all the time! I need to hear her shitty excuses from her own goddamn mouth!

Caleb- No, you don't, I'm talking for the both of us.

Hal- Don't talk back to me, son. You know what happens when you do.

Betty gripped Caleb's hand tightly, but before she knew it, her father had shoved Caleb out of the way and grabbed Betty by the hair, yanking her into the kitchen. Caleb ran after them, trying to stop Hal from hurting his sister, but when he saw him pulling the knife from the drawer, he instantly froze.
