Betty had managed to stay away for a few years, with very little communication with anyone. But to stay hidden she did move around a lot with her daughter.
They had ended up in New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and even Georgia for a short amount of time. But now they were back up north in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
She and Riley lived in a small apartment right outside of the city in a nice neighborhood with a great school system.
They spent a lot of time outside playing, since Riley always had so much energy. So that's where they were. At a park beside their apartment. It wasn't too busy but there were a few other families.
Riley was on the swing with Betty sitting on a bench watching a few feet away from her, when suddenly she noticed someone had been watching her from the other side of the park. As soon as they made eye contact the man stood up and began walking toward her. As he grew closer she realized who it was...and instantly, her stomach dropped.
Betty- Riley! Let's go! Now! (tears)
Riley- But mommy-
Betty- No buts, we have to leave, now! (tears)
The little girl hopped off the swing and walked over to her mother. The young woman picked up her daughter and instantly began running back to their apartment.
Riley- Mommy, why are you running?
Betty- To get some exercise. (softly tears)
They made it back to their apartment complex and instantly got in their car and began driving away...but Riley was so confused.
Riley- Where are we going?
Betty- Somewhere safe. (tears)
As they began driving as fast as they could, Betty pulled her phone out of her pocket and called someone she hadn't talked to since she left Riverdale.
On the phone:
Cheryl- Hello?
Betty- C-Cheryl... (tears)
Cheryl- Oh my god, Bee...is it actually you? (softly)
Betty- Yes, b-but I need your help. (tears)
Cheryl- What's wrong, are you okay?
Betty- We're okay for now, but didn't you mention that your family had a lake house somewhere? Somewhere really safe and private? (tears)
Cheryl- Yeah, why do you ask?
Betty- I can't explain all of it right now, but Riley and I need somewhere safe to stay. Can you send me the address and meet me there? (sniffles)
Riley- But what about all of our stuff, mommy?
Betty- We'll get it eventually, baby. (sniffles)
Cheryl- Bee, a-are you sure you're okay?
Betty- I hope so. (sniffles)
Cheryl- (sighs) I'm sending you the address now.
Betty- Thank you...but Cheryl, promise me you won't tell anyone about this? (sniffles)
Cheryl- I promise, I'll see you soon.
Off the phone:
Riley- Mommy, what's going on?
Betty- Nothing you need to worry about honey.
Riley- But who was that?
Betty- That was auntie Cheryl. I don't know if you remember her, you haven't seen her in a while-
Riley- I remember auntie Cheryl! Are we going to see her?!
Betty- Yeah, but it'll be a while, so rest up. We have a good few hours ahead of us, okay?
Riley- Okay.

Betty had finally pulled into the gated community after almost 4 hours of driving. She drove slowly as she passed a bunch of huge homes...but then she finally reached the house and saw Cheryl and Toni standing outside. She hopped out of the car and both of the girls instantly jumped onto her, wrapping their arms around her.
Cheryl- Bee...
Toni- Fuck, we missed you so much!
Betty- I missed you guys too. (tears)
They hugged for a moment before pulling away and looking at each other.
Toni- You look fucking incredible, Bee.
Betty- Thank you, so do you guys...though I didn't know you'd be here, Toni, since I told Cheryl not to tell anyone-
Cheryl- I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I just assumed since you were telling me you'd be fine with me telling Toni.
Betty- I'm just messing with you, it's fine...I'm so glad you're both here, and thank you so much for letting us stay by the way.
Cheryl- Of course, you're always welcome here.
Betty smiled and pulled her sleeping daughter out of the car...and instantly Toni and Cheryl both shrieked (as quietly as possible).
Cheryl- Oh my god! She's so big!!!
Betty- I know, it's crazy. She's growing up too fast.
Toni- She's five now?
Betty- Yeah.
Cheryl- OMG.
Toni- She's beautiful.
Betty- Thank you.
Cheryl- Alright, let's head inside and get you guys all comfortable.
They walked into the house and Cheryl gave them a full tour before they went back to the living room and all sat together for the first time in years. Betty was sitting on the couch with Riley asleep on her chest while Cheryl and Toni were next to them.
