Don't Let Go

Part 21

Betty- Juggie, I'm exhausted. (softly)

Jughead- I know, baby, I know. Why don't I take you up to bed.

She nodded slowly before Jughead stood up and pulled Betty up with him. Then he wrapped his arms around her as they walked over to Alice.

Betty- I want to stay up and talk more with you but I need to go to bed.

Alice- We can talk tomorrow, sweetie, just get some rest.

Betty nodded as her eyes were becoming heavy. Then Jughead helped her up the stairs and helped her get changed before she got in bed with her. She laid her head on his chest while he rubbed her stomach to keep the baby calm, but then she looked up at him.

Betty- (softly) I don't want her to stay.

Jughead- What? Why? I thought you missed her?

Betty- I did, and I do...but I can't forgive her for what she's done. (tears)

Jughead- Because she left you?

Betty- No, she's a liar. (tears)

Jughead- What do you mean?

Betty- She said she didn't know my dad would hurt me...but she knew. He touched me long before everything started. (sniffles)

Jughead- What?!

Betty- She left me with him, knowing what he was capable of. (tears)

Jughead instantly became angry but took a deep breath to calm himself.

He wrapped his arms around Betty and kissed her over and over to make her feel better and supported, then he pulled her closer to him.

Jughead- Tell me everything.

Betty had been asleep for a little bit now, but Jughead continued to hold her while she slept. He thought about everything that she had told him before she fell asleep, and even though he was extremely pissed, he was able to keep himself calm. Suddenly he heard a knock on the door and Alice and Fp walked in to see Betty peacefully asleep against her boyfriend.

Alice- Everyone just caught me up to speed...you two are a thing?

Jughead- Yes...why do you care? (sighs)

Fp- Woah, boy, what's with the attitude?

Jughead- What attitude? (rolls his eyes)

Fp- That one, the one that you're giving us right now.

Jughead- I'm just tired and want to go to sleep with my girlfriend, what do you want?

Alice- I just wanted to say, I've been friends with your dad forever. And he told me that you really love her, so I'll trust you to be with her...just please don't hurt her.

Jughead- I could never...unlike you. (mumbles the end)

Alice- I'm sorry, what did you say at the end? I didn't hear you.

Jughead- Nothing...now I don't want to be rude but I really want to go to sleep-

Alice- Yes, yes, I'll leave you alone. But I better not hear any weird noises from this room. My daughter doesn't need-

Jughead- I think I know what your daughter needs more than you, thanks.

Fp- Jughead! (agrily)

With all of the commotion, Betty began to stir. Jughead rubbed Betty's back softly to soothe her, but she didn't fall back to sleep. She opened her eyes and saw her mother standing near the doorway. She sighed and rested her head on Jughead's chest while he bent down to kiss her cheek, then Alice walked over to them and caressed her daughter's arm.

Alice- Hey, baby-

Jughead hit her arm away and Fp instantly yelled at him before pulling him away from his girlfriend. The older man dragged his son out of the room and grabbed his chin while he yelled at him.

Fp- What the fuck has gotten into you?! (yells)

Jughead- Nothing. (quietly)

Fp- No. You are not pulling this shit with me, tell me what the fuck is wrong with you! (yells)

Jughead- Betty was sleeping, Alice doesn't need to fucking touch her while she's trying to sleep! (yells)

Fp- I don't know what this attitude is about but that's definitely not the reason, so until you tell me you are staying in your room with Caleb.

Jughead- What?! But dad-

Fp- Go.

Jughead let out a deep breath before walking into his room where Caleb was sitting in his  bed playing Xbox.

Caleb- What was that about?

Jughead- Don't worry about it...shouldn't you be with your mom anyways?

Caleb- No...just because I'm glad she's alive doesn't mean I want her around.

Jughead- (whispers) That makes three of us.

While Jughead went to his room with Caleb, Fp walked back into Betty's room to see Alice sitting with Betty, hugging her tightly. But when Betty didn't see Jughead she pushed her mom away.

Betty- Where's Jughead?

Fp- In his room.

Betty- Why?

Fp- Because I said so.

Betty looked down at her lap while Alice stood up and walked back over to Fp. Then Fp looked at the woman.

Fp- Are you okay with sleeping on the couch until we find something more permanent?

Alice- Yes, that sounds perfect. Thank you so much. And Betty, if you need anything I'll just be downstairs, okay sweetie?

Betty- I'm fine.

Alice- I know, I know, but still.

Betty nodded and watched as Alice and Fp walked out of the room but once she heard them walk down the stairs, tears left her eyes and she got out of her bed, going straight to Jughead and Caleb's room. As soon as she walked in, Jughead and Caleb ran to her since they saw the tears in her eyes.

Jughead- Baby, why are you crying?

Jughead wrapped his arms around her while Caleb put his arm on her shoulder.

Betty- I just want to go to sleep. (tears)

Jughead- Okay, okay. Come on, let's lie down.

He pulled her to his bed and let her lay her stomach on top of him while her head moved to his chest. Caleb sat at the foot of the bed, rubbing his sister's leg while she calmed down.

Betty- She has been gone for so long, and now she comes back to be my mom? (tears)

Caleb- (sighs) I know, I know.

Betty- Yes I missed her, but I don't want her here. (tears)

Caleb- Same...we'll figure it out, it'll be fine. But for now, I'm just going to avoid her.

Betty nodded, agreeing with him, but after a few more minutes of them talking she fell asleep with Jughead's arms around her.
