Better Swan

Part 1

You often wonder if it is cool to be the big sister and you can boss them around. I will tell you that it is a big responsibility and can bring you a lot of trouble. I know this from experience and maybe it would be better if I told you everything from the beginning.

Hi

My name is Alexandra Nova Swan but you can call me Alex. I am the older adopted daughter of Charlie Swan and Renee Dwyer and older sister of Isabella Swan. I was adopted by them when I was 3 and they thought they couldn't have children. 

So when Isabella was born Renee treated her as a miracle and spoilt her. When Isabella was one or two I can't quite remember Renee moved out of the Forks but not before she said some awful things to Charlie. 

Renee wanted me to be engaged to her and Isabella but I didn't give in and when there was a divorce hearing and where I was going I promised I would do anything to stay with my dad. 

Luckily for me I stayed with Charlie and for those few years I healed the wound Renee had made. I was always closer to Charlie than Renee because I knew she had bad intentions. What they didn't know in the beginning was that from a young age I could recognise who was good and who wasn't. 

When Charlie has a heart of gold and a good soul Renee's heart is black and soul rotten. I knew that if I stayed with Renee it would end badly for me. I just hoped she wouldn't have a bad effect on Isabella but I didn't have much hope. 

Seeing that Renne thought she was so special and sure would spoil her greatly but hope is the mother of fools. At first Isabella was a nice and calm child who liked to follow me around. I had a good bond with her and was increasingly hopeful that Renee was doing a good job raising her. 

However, this all changed when Isabella came to visit when she was 10 years old. She went from being the sweet child she was to a spoilt demon. She expected everything to be handed to her and made a tantrum when nothing was going her way or she didn't have all the attention on her. 

I knew at that moment that I had lost my sweet little Isa and she would not be there again. I stayed away from her and when she was visiting I made it a point to spend as little time with her as possible. 

For several months now, I have been doing paintings for commissions from my friends and their families. I am getting more and more orders and making good money out of it. 

It all went towards my studies, I finished school two years ahead of my class thanks to being smart, but I was happy about that because I could focus on my future. 

Charlie was proud of me but Renee called me a nerd and that was it. I honestly didn't care because I knew she was jealous. 

Dad didn't see his bad behaviour at first and explained that she was little and could still behave like that. However, one incident changed his mind. I was 16 at the time and Isabella was 13:

I was in my room doing one of my bespoke paintings. It was an order from a friend of mine as a wedding anniversary present for her parents. It was a portrait of their family and I still had a week to finish it, but I wanted to get it over with and get on with another commission. 

Everything was going well until Isabella barged into my room. She scared me so much that I almost destroyed the painting, but I managed to restrain myself. I looked up at her, "I can help you Isabella" I said irritated. Isabella doesn't know the word knock she walks in without knocking or bangs on the door if I lock it. 

She looked at my room '' We are swapping rooms. This one is bigger and I deserve it because I'm younger. YOU ARE TO CHANGE WITH ME NOW'' Isabela said and I rubbed my forehead. I knew what was coming '' No it's my room and you can't have it'' I said 

'' I WANT THIS ROOM ! I WANT IT! I AM THE MOST IMPORTANT AND I SHOULD HAVE THE BEST THINGS! I AM HIS DAUGHTER AND I SHOULD BE THE MOST IMPORTANT AND HAVE ALL THE ATTENTION! I AM THEIR MIRACLE AND THEIR ONLY CHILD AND YOU ARE JUST UNWANTED RUBBISH! IT'S MY FAMILY, NOT YOURS! NOW GIVE ME THAT ROOM, YOU DON'T BELONG HERE! GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM! YOU ADORABLE NOBODY'' she shouted and before I could speak Dad interjected 

''ISABELLA MARIA SWAN! How dare you talk to your sister like that! I don't know why you're acting like this but it ends now. This is Alex's room and will forever be her room and nothing will change that. Go to your room and stay there until you think about your behaviour. You will apologise to her first '' he said angrily and was shaking with anger. 

I could count on my fingers the number of times I've seen Dad angry, but I've never seen him this upset. Dad is a very calm person and it is difficult to upset him. He always tries to be calm no matter the situation. But Isabella didn't say anything and went to her room slamming her door.

So the next day Isabella said she wanted to go home. I didn't understand why she was coming here if she kept complaining about the weather and that she had nothing to do. Renee wanted to shout at me for my behaviour but Charlie defended me. 

There was an offer for him to drive himself to visit Isabella but he refused. He had seen their actions and knew that Renee would do anything to prefer Isabella to demnie. To be honest I have more consistent with him than Isabella. 

Like him I like to watch sports and hunt and go fishing with him. When I turned 18 I received information about my parents' inheritance. I received an equal $130,000,000 and it turned out that my family were millionaires and had a big business that they sold when they found out they were pregnant. 

It was their life money along with the estate of my grandparents who died 4 years before I was born. I was already a student at the time and this cash infusion helped me a lot by allowing me to focus more on my studies. Of course when Isabella and Renee found out about it they were suddenly really nice to me. 

However, Charlie and I immediately saw through them and what they were about. I immediately told them I wouldn't give them any money and they could kiss me where the sun doesn't go. I wanted to say worse but my dad was next to me and I wanted everyone to see her as a bad person. 

She wanted to take out that jart: I am your mum but I quickly blocked it out with her own words. I have a video myself where she says I'm not her daughter but.... I prefer not to think about it. 

Thanks for being so clever I managed to pass both the business and photography courses in 3 years and I am now doing catering because I like cooking and want to know more about it. I used the money to buy myself a house at La Push turn of Forks and a car. 

I also adopted a Husky puppy. He has beautiful blue eyes so I named him Blue. Life was peaceful until my dad gave me the awful news.
