Chapter 6

        I woke up at 9am, still excited for the first shooting day in Hồ Tràm. I changed into a rosy chevron M Missoni mini dress and wedge heels. I packed everything in my luggage and ready to take the road. The reason I wore that outfit is because it will be also for the first scene of the music video Họa Tâm. After I ate breakfast, I checked out the hotel, leaving, and waited for the taxi, which was what I expected first.

        Then, I was surprised that it turned out to be Việt Quang's white roadster. Việt Quang took off his sunglasses, as I stroked my hair shyly and jumped in his car. I said, "I didn't know you have a white roadster. It's like when a Prince Charming first met Cinderella." On our way to Hồ Tràm, Việt Quang asked me as he was playing Vẫn Yêu Dại Khờ, "Can I buy you some cream puffs for your snack? I know you're still nervous for the first shooting day."
I looked at him and said, "Is it necessary?"
"It's necessary for me. Recently, you've never been in a new music video since Cơn Mơ Tan. This time, you look more elegant than a ballerina. Starting from now, you will be in my new music video and consider it a chance for a lifesaver because you deserve to be."
I smiled and said, "You're definitely a cute boy. I love to eat cream puffs." After that, he bought a few cream puffs for me, and my cheeks were pink as I said, "Oh, I don't think this is your Valentine's gift."
Việt Quang chuckled bashfully, "Well, I should've gave them to you for Valentine's Day, but it was late so I gave them to you this summer instead." I thanked him and ate a little bit of cream puffs until we reached to Hồ Tràm.

        The first filming location was the villa, which was where Cindy lived with her nice stepmother and stepsisters. Hari Won, who played the sae eomma, greeted me to the filming location and said, "Hi, Soomin. It's nice to see you and I hope we do great in this music video." I smiled back and said, "So do I. Perhaps you memorized all your lines right?"
"Of course. But the point is, we had to read over again 10 times, 20 times, as long as we memorized." 10 minutes later, after we practiced our lines, Hari Won told the director that we were ready to film the first scene. As we began to film, the director  shouted, "Họa Tâm cảnh 1, take 1. Máy chạy, Action!"

The scene began when Cindy came home from school, and she sat on the table to do her homework for Psychology. While she was doing her homework, her stepmother greeted her with chicken congee and said to her in Korean, "Nae ttal-a, swimyeonseo chikin jug jom meog-eo. ileohge hamyeon memohaneun geos-i himdeulgi ttaemun-e geongang-eul bohohaneun de doum-i doebnida. Swiseyo, eo? (My daughter, take a break and have some congee. This will help you stay healthy because doing your homework will be tough. Take a break, huh?)" As her stepmom cleaned the schoolwork, Cindy politely thanked, "Gamsahabnida sae eomma. Wae geuleoghe geonganghan eumsig-eulo nae jineung-eul yujihaneunji moleugessubnida. Gedaga simlihag sugjeleul hago iss-eoyo (Thanks stepmom. I don't know why you maintain my intellect with such healthy food. Besides, I'm doing my homework for Psychology.)" When Cindy started to eat congee, her stepmother giggled and said, "Ja, jeoleul saeeommalago buleuji maseyo. iyuleul asibnikka? naneun dangsin-ui gyemoijiman hangsang dangsin-eul uli gajog-ui jinjja ttallo daehabnida. dangsin-ui baegyeong-eul algie dangsin-i yeojeonhi nae pyeon-eul gajigo issdaneun geos-i deo un-i johseubnida. geuleoni jeoleul 'eomma'lago buleusimyeon jeoleul deo haengboghage hae jusil su issseubnida. Arasseo? (Come on, don't call me 'stepmom'. Do you know why? Though I'm your stepmom, I always treat you as my real daughter in my family. Knowing your background, I'm still luckier that you still have my side. Therefore, just call me 'mom' so you can make me happier. Okay?)". I nodded and said, "Yes, eomma."
"Nae chaghan ttal-iya. deuseyo. meog-eulsulog yeppeojibnida. (That's my good daughter. Bon appetit. The more you eat, the prettier you will be.)"

At the end of the scene, the director shouted 'Cut!' And he considered it a good take even though he didn't understand what we said. Hari Won ran to the director and asked in Vietnamese, "Sao nào, đạo diễn? Tụi em diễn được không?" The director clapped slowly and said, "Nói chung là hai đứa diễn đạt lắm. Cơ mà anh chả hiểu những gì hai đứa đã nói."
"Để em thông dịch cho đạo diễn. Mẹ kế nấu cháo gà cho Lọ Lem ăn để có sức học tập tiếp. Lọ Lem lễ phép cảm ơn bà ấy đã giữ gìn tư duy của mình bằng những món ăn lành mạnh như vầy, còn gọi bả bằng 'dì'. Cái mẹ kế nói Lọ Lem nên gọi bả bằng 'mẹ' vì bả luôn coi Lọ Lem như con ruột trong nhà vậy đó."
"À, hiểu rồi nghen. Anh cũng kết diễn xuất của Soomin, cũng như kỹ năng biên kịch của con bé tuy là lính mới nghiệp dư. Nói nghe nè, nếu mà anh không hiểu những lời thoại của các em, thì thông dịch lại cho anh sau khi diễn cảnh xong." I also gave Hari Won a thumbs up, smiling, because we did great on the first scene for the first time. And so did Việt Quang because he know how tough the film crew was.

Then, the director figured out another scene about the first encounter between Cindy and Kini, the Prince Charming, portrayed by Việt Quang. After he finished changing his clothes, the director praised him for wearing a new outfit as the modern Prince Charming. I also came out with a bright plan, "Ah, how about we can film that first encounter outside the beach?" Hari Won also translated in Vietnamese, "Đúng đó, mình có thể quay cảnh lần gặp đầu tiên ở ngoài biển đấy. Bởi vì cảnh này đến trước cảnh giữa mẹ kế và Lọ Lem." Việt Quang also said, "Ý tưởng hay, duyệt!"
The director also nodded, "Có lý lắm. Cảnh quay đó cũng dễ ẹc. Vì vậy nên Quang và Soomin cứ diễn tự nhiên hen." Cue the first encounter scene! It started with Cindy, who were on her way home, and she bumped into Kini, causing her to fall down and drop her schoolwork. Then, Kini helped her clean up and both of them looked at each other infatuatedly. Cindy said 'hi' to Kini, and so did he. Finally, they left in separate ways. The director shouted again, "Cut! Quá đạt! Good take! Như anh đã nói, quay cảnh gì thì được cảnh đấy. Diễn như vậy là quá dễ thở hơn nhiều." Việt Quang also thanked him and said, "Cảm ơn đạo diễn nhiều. Em thấy chính mình diễn cảnh này cũng thật sự dễ thương."
"Thôi bây giờ anh tính thế này. Từ sau hai cảnh diễn đầu tiên của mấy đứa, thì chúng ta có thể quay phần hát của Việt Quang và phần đánh đàn của Soomin. Vì anh nghe nói Soomin đánh đàn piano giỏi lắm, phải không mấy đứa?" Hari Won also responded, "Sao anh biết hay vậy? Soomin cũng mê piano lắm. Mà nếu phần hát của anh Quang và phần đánh đàn của bé Min kết hợp nhau lại là chết! Ý là tuyệt vời." Finally, I nodded and a few minutes later, I changed into a peach dress as Việt Quang changed into a light blue tuxedo. We were also determined to film our special scene..
