Asher's POV
A week later, blueprints and files were brought to me.

The fuck is all this?

I went to my office and set everything down on the table. I opened the files. I saw a picture of a young girl.

-Alyx Grey

-26

-Parents are both gone.

-Younger brother is gone.

Pictures of what happened to her family were in the file. Her father's body had claw marks all over it. Her mother's upper body was ripped apart. Her brother's stomach was completely torn up.

That's fucking horrible.

There's nothing on her getting hurt.

I kept reading.

Wait....

This happened 9 years ago?

That makes her what?

17 at the time?

Holy fuck.

She was basically a child still.

I kept reading and found a note.

There's an abandoned house with a dungeon that's 6 hours away.  She's there. I suggest you bring backup. I have marked the areas they patrol and wrote down when they start and when they're done. Take her as far away and you can. Be careful. Everyone here is dangerous. Follow the trail of red.

"The trail of red"?

What does that mean?

I started going through the blueprints. I called my beta, Cal. He gathered some people and met me in my office.

"So this shit just got handed to you?"

"Uh huh."

We came up with a plan and I had to go have a painful conversation.

"Y-you're leaving?"

"I'm so sorry Pix."

"Y-you're gonna come back right?!"

"I always do."

I felt bad leaving. Just like always. When we got to the house, I had everyone shut up.

"Wait. Shut it!"

I started smelling strawberries again.

Got ya.

I started running. I snuck in an unlocked door.

Make a noise.

Where are you?

I heard screaming coming from the right. I followed it. It brought me to the dungeon. I just ran into it and started looking around.

"STOP! PLEASE!"

I started running towards the voice. I found a room and kicked in the door. I ripped the guy off the girl and threw him up against the wall. I looked over my shoulder.

That's not her.

"Run! Get outta here! Go!"

The girl started running. I looked back at the guy.

"How many others are here?"

"You'll never know."

I grabbed his shirt and slammed him against the wall.

"Answer me!"

I started punching him.

"How...many...others?!"

"T-ten!"

"You have 10 girls here?!"

I knocked him out then started running. I walked out of the room. I heard a girl running up to me. I looked closer and saw who it was. Alyx was running up to me. I looked down and saw the trail of red mentioned in the note.

I see.

The trail of red is just dried blood.

Evan: MATE! MATE!

Alyx ran right into my arms.

"Mate!"

She started crying.

"Mate.."

"Don't let me go!"

"Okay. Okay. I'm not going to."

She started holding me like her life depended on it. Her nails were digging into my skin.

"It's okay. You're okay."

"Please tell me...you're an alpha...I-I'd feel safer that way."

"Don't worry. I am. Can you walk some more? Do your legs hurt from running?"

"A-a bit.."

I picked her up bridal style.

"You good?"

"I-I think."

"You sure?"

She shook her head.

"Okay. We'll just take it easy for right now."
