"They call her 'Blackout'," I sigh. "If the conditions are right--usually under heavy strain--all energy surrounding seeks her out and adheres to her as everything, of course, blacks out. Eventually, the energy forming an aura around her grows stronger under pressure of staying dark for so long, turning it back to light and heat. It then seeks a new source. Of course, without Holly's immunity to such things, the new host dies on contact-- we call this a Ricochet Detonation." Everyone is nodding and seems to understand, so I nod to Espen to continue on to the gravity of the explanation.

He clears his throat. "The . . er . . The day I walked out on our family, Holly-- Holly, uhm . . She . . "gave out", as you might say. She almost killed me right then. When it was all over I was still hanging on by the thread of my vitality effects, but it wasn't enough to shield me. I spent three months in a coma. After I awoke, no one seemed to know where she was. My family took my disownment seriously, to an extent, and all I've ever gotten from them since is the occasional letter from my mother."
