BECK SAT PATIENTLY as Amris lightly applied a gray-colored cream to the scar on her temple. It smelled faintly of tulips.  Her fingers pulled at the loose threads of her jeans as Amris worked, the swell of her stomach growing more noticeable as the baby she carried grew.

"You know, I don't think Melissa would be okay with you guys messing with my injury," Beck muttered as her light green eye looked up at the pregnant witch.

Amris pursed her lips as she moved her hands. Once the motions were finished, Beck looked over at Nico and Bella as they hung off of the desk watching the two.

"She said the ointment will help reduce visible scarring," Bella translated, swinging her legs as she hung off the desk on her stomach. "It will also help with the pain."

"And you're sure it's okay to apply it?"

"Positive," Nico translated once Amris's hands finished moving. "Amris even uses it to help with cramping and stretch marks." Tilting his head, Nico blinked up at Amris. "What are stretch marks?"

Amris covered her mouth as she chuckled before signing her answer.

"What do you mean I have to wait till I'm older? I'm old enough. I know how your baby was placed in your stomach." Nico whined as Bella giggled from next to him. Nico released a huff and crossed his arms at Amris's response. "I have to ask my Dad?"

Everyone's eyes moved toward the windows where Cabe, Killian, Jon, and Sampson worked to cover the floor-to-ceiling windows.

"Why are they covering the windows again?" Beck asked softly as Alice and Tati approached them. She knew they had explained their reason earlier, but Beck still didn't understand.

"To protect against the supermoon tonight," Tati explained as Lily-Rose laced her fingers with hers.

Beck tilted her head to the side as Amris began to apply a new bandage to cover the scar. "But why?"

"The moon's light gives us power. Much like how plant life gives us power, Rebecca." Cabe explained as he stepped back, having heard the small blonde's questions as he surveyed the men's work. He glanced over his shoulder towards Beck as he continued. "We have gone months without using our powers. Now we are under threat of having too much."

"Too much what?"

"Power," Tati explained as she glanced over to Beck. "If witches don't practice witchcraft regularly, that power could build up. It forces us into a sort of catatonic state as it continues to build till finally being released violently. In some cases, witches have been known to die from the build-up. It's very dangerous to not use our gifts regularly."

"And just like the werewolves will be greatly affected by the supermoon, so too will we," Cabe added as he motioned for Sampson to move the board he was holding over a bit. "This might not do much to protect us, but it's better to be safe than sorry."
