BECK MOVED TOWARDS the fridge, wanting to get a snack. But she was beaten to it by Stiles, who practically tackled the fridge as he ran into the kitchen.
Beck shook her head and rolled her eyes at him as she grabbed an apple before walking into the dining room. There she found Sheriff Stilinski sitting at the table surrounded by large stacks of paper.
"Hey," Beck said as she stepped in.
Sheriff Stilinski looked up briefly, spying the apple in her hand. "Hey, Rebecca. Little late for a snack, don't you think?"
Beck shrugged her shoulders as she glanced down at the apple. "We missed dinner."
Sheriff Stilinski looked at his watch, noticing what time it was. "Damn." He gazed up at Beck before looking into the kitchen. "There should be some leftover pizza in the fridge if you're hungry."
"Stiles ate that already," Beck explained as she took a bite of her apple. Sheriff Stilinski released a groan as he glared down at his papers. "It's fine."
"Hey Dad, whatcha doing?" Stiles asked as he entered the dining room behind Beck, a carton of milk in his hand.
"Work."
"Anything I can help with?" Stiles asked.
"You know, if you poured me an ounce of whiskey, that would be nice," Sheriff Stilinski answered, never taking his eyes off his papers.
Beck moved closer to the table as Stiles hurried to grab the bottle of whiskey and a glass.
"Any leads?" Stiles asked curiously as he sat down at the table. Beck peered down at the papers, taking a bite of her apple as Stiles reached for one.
"Hey!" Sheriff Stilinski scolded as he slapped his son's hand away. "You know I can't discuss that with you. Especially with you here Rebecca." Sheriff Stilinski added, glancing up at Beck with a kind smile.
Beck nodded her head in understanding as she tried to skim over the papers, making Sheriff Stilinski snatch them away from her sight. Stiles opened the bottle of whiskey and began to pour a glass.
"Not too much." Which is exactly what Stiles didn't do.
"Okay," Stiles said as he handed his father the overfilled glass of whiskey. "Here ya go, Dad. Bottoms up." And with that Sheriff Stilinski downed the glass in one go, making Beck's eyes widen.
"Derek Hale would be a whole hale of a lot... a hale of a lot..." Sheriff Stilinski slurred as the whiskey began to take effect.
"Hell of a lot?" Beck suggested as she sat down across from him.
"Hell," Sheriff Stilinski repeated as he gave Beck a thumbs up. "Yes, he would be a hell of a lot easier to catch if we could get an actual picture of him."
"How do you not have a picture of him?" Stiles asked as Beck began to bite her lip.
"It's the weirdest thing," Sheriff Stilinski slurred as Stiles grabbed a picture from his dad. "It's like every time we try to get a mug shot, it was like two... laser beams were pointing at the camera." Stiles held the photo up to Beck with a raised eyebrow.
The picture would have been a mug shot of Derek if it hadn't been for a pair of bright flashes appearing from his eyes.
Werewolf, Beck mouthed.
"Nice," Stiles muttered as he studied the photo.
"Oh my God," Sheriff Stilinski groaned as he removed his glasses. "God, that ounce hit me like a brick. And I have said way too much. And if you two repeat any of that-"
