Karter woke up different, a sense of awakening—becoming. She smiled at herself before rolling onto her back, grabbing her phone. Last night was eye opening for her. Joshua was the very small percent of men who put in the effort for her and she never felt more wanted, mentally. Being wanted physically was nothing new to her but this, this was something different. Checking her notifications she saw a text message from an unknown number.

She sat back against her headboard, staring at her phone. It's not like she gave her number out to any and everyone but she also didn't want to get her hopes up on who it could be. Following her gut she sent, 'YES', before she received a FaceTime call from Zion. She answered. "Hey pretty. Just checking on you." Zion said with a warm smile, Karter'a face already cut with a smile of pure joy. "I see you're have a good morning." Zion smile growing as Karter nodded. "That I am. I have a brunch date." Karter said. Zion screamed happily. "Oh my goodness, his nose is wide open!" Zion said and Karter laughed. "Please never say that again. You sound like someone's granny!" Karter exclaimed making Zion laugh. "Whatever. I like him, I can tell he cares for you a lot." Zion admitted. "I care about him to. He's really sweet Z. Last night he came over after I left the party and he bought me my Alaska and California rolls with my teriyaki sauce. We didn't even talk but his presence alone was enough for me." She admitted. Zion eyes watered as she smiled. She was happy for her best friend and believed she deserved all things good in the world. She gave so much and got so little. Karter hasn't dated in years because of her past relationship history. It didn't contribute to her anxiety, however, it didn't help it. He was the worst and Zion hated him enough for the both of them. "I love that for you, so much." Zion said making Karter smile. "Z, don't get emotional on me! I have to get my life together for later!" She said making Zion pout as she wiped her eyes. "My baby is growing up so fast." Zion joked making Karter laugh. "Get off my line, I'll talk to you later!" Karter said. "I love you, Ife." Zion said and Karter blew her a kiss. "I love you more, Zion Sanders." Karter said making Zion laugh before hanging up the phone. She laid back in her bed, covering her head in her comforter as she smiled. She could only pray that she was going to be meeting Joshua there. Contemplating back and forth with herself she FaceTime him. He picked up on the second ring. "Hey." He said. He was on a treadmill but he wasn't at the gym. She could only assume he had a workout space at him which made perfect sense. He had what looked like a weighted vest. "Hey, do you have any plans today?" She asked. She didn't want to blatantly ask him and it's not him. He grinned, pushing the stop button on the treadmill. "Why?" He asked, a smile playing on his lips making her nervous. She prayed he was just teasing. "Just wondering." She said, shrugging. "Karter, it was me who sent you the reservation. Relax." He laughed making her shoulders drop as she exhaled. "I thought I was going to have to change my number." She said. She watched as he chugged some water, his head back giving her a peek of the necklace he wore around his neck more often than none. She loved it. A small gold Cuban link. He placed the water down before giving her a smile. "No need to do that, baby girl. I got to finish this workout. I'll hit you later. Okay?" He said. She felt her heart flutter at the nickname. She nodded and he smiled. "I'll see you soon."

I was beyond nervous. This man filled my stomach with butterflies every time I thought about him. I loved it. Turning in the mirror I ran my hands down my sides, my dress complimenting my figure beautifully. Plus the change in diet and training with Trinity my body has never felt so good. I knew I had to leave soon so I grabbed my bag and walked out my house. I was taken aback seeing Joshua's car outside, him leaning against the side of it as he looked down at his phone. He looked up as I closed my door, a smile breaking out on his face as he pushed himself off the car, walking towards me. I was still in shock and just stood there until he approached me. He reached out his hand and I held my finger up before turning to lock my door, turning back to him when I was done. He was biting on his bottom lip, placing his hand back out allowing me to grab it. As I walked down the steps a felt like I was floating, he stared at me like I was the only girl in the world. "I wasn't expecting you to pick me up." I admitted as I stepped down to bottom step. "I don't know why." He said lowly. He was still holding my hand and I started to walk ahead of him. "Joshua, you're staring." I said, looking down at my heels as I walked, pulling him along. "I know." He said and I stopped and looked back at him. He had a cheesy grin on his face making me laugh. He pulled me back into a hug, his chin resting on my shoulder as we laughed. He ensured that he didn't have his lower half against mines. Respectful, even though he could do the most disrespectful things to me. But I digress. I laid my arms over his as we walked to the car. "If you wanted to hug me you know you could've just said that." I teased. "I did, didn't I?" He responded, turning his head to kiss my jaw. I licked my lip. Turning my head slightly I looked at him, his eyes locking on mines before I looked down at his lips. "If you want a kiss just say that." He teased and I bit my lip. "Kiss me." I said. He raised a brow, a smirk playing on his lips before he leaned in, kissing me softly. I turned towards him, wrapping my arms around his neck. Here we were in the middle of the day, kissing like we were together. I wanted this everyday, I wanted him. He pulled away making me whine as I chased his lips, he reached up and grabbed my jaw, softy before kissing the side of my mouth. "We'll have time later, but we got to go." He said, clearly fighting back the same urges I did. I dropped my arms from around his neck and used my thumb to wipe my lipgloss from his mouth. "Yes sir."
