Scarlett's POV

"Ooh, how about this one?" I suggest to my eldest daughter. We're currently looking at schools in the area that we think y/n will enjoy going to.

Of course, as her mama, I have been doing my own judging of the schools based on their ratings and how run down they look in the pictures. I want her to have an enjoyable time at school amongst her new peers and get a good education, and I don't expect that to happen in schools that are clearly taken over by the students.

"That one looks nice. Can I read the description?" She asks, licking some ice cream off of her spoon. We've been chilling here for a good hour before deciding that she wanted some, and by some, she apparently meant the whole tub of Ben & Jerry's which I soon learned when she returned to my office with it.

I did buy that tub for her specifically though when we went shopping for groceries the other day, anyway.

I scroll down into the description, reading it out loud for us both to intake. "Hmm, most known for their music and drama classes. That'll be good for you, don't ya think?"

She hums in response, nodding her head slightly. "I do like music. How far is it?" She questions. I press the maps, putting my location in only to find the school is literally twenty minutes away in a car.

"Only twenty minutes in a car which is perfect because I'll be dropping you off anyway until you decide you want to get the school bus. Oh and look, Rose will be five minutes away from you." I inform her, pointing at her sisters school.

"Hm, i think i like it. It might be the one." She decides, her decision not one hundred percent sure, but there may be hope. "Perfect. Should we apply?" I ask, clicking onto the schools website, wanting to apply as soon as we can because time is only ticking, and soon it will be too late for Y/n to go to school, she'll be off to college instead..

"Okay"

It takes a good forty minutes filled with debating and confusion between my daughter and I, but eventually, we manage to fulfil the application and send it off. A sign of relief being thrown from our lips as the stressful moment comes to an end.

"Aww, my baby is going to her first American school!" I cheer, pulling her from her chair and onto my lap. "Mom!" She whines, trying to show that she doesn't like it, but the slightly hidden grin on her face says otherwise.

"It's true! I didn't get to take you to you first school ever, but i get to be there for your first American one." I state, squeezing her a little as my chin rests on her shoulder.

She just chuckles and pulls away after a moment of letting me hold her. "Okay, come on. Aren't we going out for lunch?" My daughter reminds me of our earlier plans we made with my husband and two other kids, her hand held out for me to take.

"We are." I agree, taking a hold of her hand before standing up and walking out of the room with her. Grabbing her empty ice-cream tub and tossing it in the small trashcan on the way out.

We get to the restaurant and are presented with a reserved private booth, specially for me and my family. I thank the waiter who shows us our table before settling down, Rose sliding into the booth first, then y/n, before finially me. Colin sitting opposite me as the girls move around to the seating connecting to either side. Cosmo stays in his stroller, fast asleep as it sits right beside me.

A look of nervousness flashes across my daughters face when I turn to hand her a menu. Wanting to know why, I turn my attention to the other side of the room where she was looking, noticing a group of teenagers around her age sitting and eating. I go to turn back to my daughter when a couple of the teens turn and make eye contact with me at the same time, quickly turning their heads away as they attempt to hide a laugh.
