I Caught You Looking AU: Chapter Six

Aru:

I know it's weird to be sniffing your friend's hoodie that they gave you, but I swear, Aiden Acharya smells of cinnamon, mint, and fresh laundry... I forgot to give it back to him on our walk home last night from the park, and ended up sleeping in it as well... I should probably give it back tomorrow at school. There was no way that I'd give it back today. I was too greedy for that. Mini noticed me wearing his hoodie last night when we were getting ready for bed. She confronted me about it with a knowing smirk and told me that I looked like a watermelon, "red on the inside and green on the outside." To be honest, she wasn't wrong, I was blushing really hard that night. How's Aiden so smooth when he talks?! I sighed on my bead, breathing in the sweet scent of his jacket once more.

"That's one hundred twenty six times now. That's how many times you've smelt his jack since THIS MORNING," Mini said, slapping her forehead, "You're obsessed with him, and it's only been a month and a half since you've met him!"

"Shut up," I replied, blushing furiously, "It hasn't only been a month and a half! I feel like I've known him for more than a year now!"

"Well then," Mini spoke again, "too bad, here's a wake up call for you! You haven't known him for a year yet!"

"I hate you." I said, pouting.

"I love you too!" Mini replied, grinning.

"When are you going home?" I asked instead, smiling.

It was Mini's turn to pout this time. "I thought you love having me here though!"

I grinned instead of her. She frowned. I smiled even more.

"Why are you like this?" She asked me.

I shrugged. "I guess I'm just special."

Mini rolled her eyes. "Yeah, you got that right."

She jumped off my bed, told me that her parents were waiting for her outside, and rushed downstairs. I followed her to my front door and waited till her car was out of sight. It was a thing that I was taught to do from a young age.

"You're the princess of this house," My mom said once, "Whenever someone leaves the home, keep an eye on them till they're fully out of your sight. It is the courteous thing to do. It is like a blessing to get home safely for that person. It is the blessing from the Princess of her castle. It's your duty. Be proud of it, Beti."

Ever since that incident with my mom, I've always watched everyone go. Just a little fact about me. I waited in my driveway, my hair undone with my pajamas still on. I was wearing a navy blue shirt and fuzzy minion pants today, and Aiden's hoodie was still warm around me. Suddenly, my phone pinged.

Guess who it was?

Aiden.

Aiden Acharya🤨: I see that you ran out of Marvel pajamas?

Aru: Huh? Wdym?

Aiden Acharya🤨: Look up at my window.

I looked up to his window and was met with a beaming Aiden. He waved at me and I waved back. I motioned for him to come downstairs and outside, so he momentarily disappeared from his window, then appeared once more outside his house.

"Hey Shah. Lovely morning, isn't it?" He said, walking up to me.

I immediately blushed. "Yeah, it is."

Aiden was wearing a black and white striped shirt with black jeans today, and obviously his camera slung around his neck. I gulped.

HOW DOES HE ALWAYS LOOK SO GOOD?!

Aiden chuckled, looking me up and down, "I also observe that you're enjoying my hoodie."

I wrapped around me, tightly, holding it close. "It's very comfy and I refuse to let it go till tomorrow."

He raised an eyebrow and then held his hands up in defeat. "Okay, okay. You can just give it back tomorrow. No big deal."

I grinned and then laughed maniacally. "I WIN! MUAHAHAHA!"

"Total Slytherin move, Shah."

I glared at him.

"Not that it's bad, though..." He panicked. "Is that your house?"

Yes.

I shrugged, lying, "I dunno, I'd totally pretend to be a Hufflepuff just to stay closest to the kitchens, though."

"You're bizarre, Shah," He said, staring at me.

Doesn't seem like an insult, that's a win.

He scratched his neck, and hesitated, opening his mouth to say something, then closed it. I frowned.

"Nope," I said, "Say it, whatever you wanted to say, say it. That's literally going to kill me for the rest of the day if I don't know what you wanted to state."

He laughed once more. "No, I was just going to ask if you wanted to hang out at my place, Brynne is busy, and I don't wanna play with Rudy, not quite that close with Mini either, so, yeah. I would just be staring at a screen for the rest of the day anyway."

Ouch. Last resort?

"So I'm your last resort?" I questioned, raising my eyebrows.

He panicked once more. "N-No! I just didn't know if you'd be comfortable coming over, that's why I hadn't wanted to ask you until now."

Oh. Not last resort. POINT-- SHAH!

I smiled. "Yeah, I'll come over. Just like give me a little bit to get ready. I haven't even brushed my teeth yet."

"Oh yeah," He joked. "I know. I can smell it."

I punched his arm playfully. "Staaahp!!"

"Okay okay now go get ready so that I won't be bored anymore!" He replied, eyes twinkling with joy.

I said I would, but there was something holding me back from walking through my front door. We just shared comfortable silence. I don't know what it was, but I know I felt something in that brief moment that we held. It was something at the least.

"Okay," I said, breaking the silence, "I'll be over in an hour or so."

Aiden nodded towards me. "See you then, Shah."

I watched him walk back to his house, till I lost sight of him.
