Natasha doesn't ever think she'd ever been so miserable. There was a persistent ache in her leg that had been there since early this morning, and if anyone asks, she'd blame it on sleeping wrong but she knew deep down it was from falling several feet after a mission gone wrong. It was a mistake anyone could have made, and rationally, Natasha knows this, but she couldn't help but blame herself for not paying enough attention.

She'd released her widow bite a little too late, and it had sent her plummeting nearly thirty feet to the ground. She'd landed on her feet, but that didn't seem to matter to her now bruised ankle -and ego.

That, and because of her 'stubbornness' as you would say, she'd adamantly refused to call you to take her home, and as a result of that she'd ended up walking the half an hour journey home in the pouring rain.

By time she pushes open the front door, she was in more pain than she'd ever admit along with being dripping wet. When she see's you staring at her in shock from your place on the couch, eyes wide with concern, she immediately forces a smile onto her face.

She was absolutely fine. There was no need to worry you.

"What in the world happened?" You ask as you bookmark your place in your book before setting it down onto the coffee table, rising to your feet and heading over to the dripping wet read head.

Natasha glances up at you, "Its raining?" was all she offers, and you raise an eyebrow in surprise as you reach out to tug on the wet material of her hoodie. At the silent implication, Natasha raises her arms, allowing you to tug the item of clothing off of her body.

"I'd never have known," you tease, and Natasha smirks slightly as she reaches up to wrap her arms around your neck. You trail your hands down her back as you gently place your lips against her own, and you feel the soft sigh Natasha emits as she pulls away. "Go get a hot shower before you get sick." You softly pat her behind as you pull her damp body away from you.

Natasha rolls her eyes with an almost knowing grin in her face. "I'm Russian, I don't get sick." She calls over her shoulder as she walks as casually as she could towards the bathroom, making sure you were completely out of sight before allowing the pained expression to slip back onto her features.

As she turns on the shower and allows the water to heat up, she sits herself down onto the closed toilet seat and tentatively pulls off her sock. She winces slightly at the sight that greets her. Her foot was twice the size it should be, and the bruising was already taking on a dark purple colour. She downs some Tylenol and makes a mental note to ice it once you were asleep.

She doesn't like to hide her injuries from you, but when they were no barely more than a bruise -such as this was- she doesn't feel the need to worry you unnecessarily. She'll be fine in a few days, and she could forget it ever happened.

It takes about twenty minutes before Natasha returns to the living room adorned in one of your hoodies and a pair of comfortable cottons shorts, the cute fluffy socks you'd gotten her completing her ensemble. She comes to stand behind you and wraps her arms around your waist.

You couldn't help but smile as you squeeze the hands resting on your stomach, "Hi baby. Nice shower? I'm making tomato soup and grilled cheese. It'll be ready in a few minutes."

Natasha tiptoes on her good foot and peeks over your shoulder. Her stomach instinctively grumbles at the creamy red tomatoey goodness. She gives your waist an affectionate squeeze as she pulls away. "Mhh, yummy. I'll go set the table."

"Thanks baby." You murmur somewhat distractedly as you take the soup off of the heat.

Natasha grabs the placemats and silverware and begins to lay the table. As she places down the final spoon, she swallows heavily as an unfamiliar itch arises in the back of her throat. Mhh. Maybe she was thirsty. She grabs a bottle of water from the refrigerator and downs at least half of it before sitting herself down at the table, just in time for you to set down to bowls of tomato along with small side plates of grilled cheese.
