it has been a few months since mike ditched the party and got with el. summer passed by quickly and a new school year has begun.

it was around lunchtime when the party (minus mike and el) was talking about the new students.

"who's the new kid?"

"you mean "new kids"? they're from some place called derry, maine," y/n answers max, whose arm was around her shoulders.

"yeah, yeah. but you saw one of the new kids...richie, right?" y/n nods, "yeah."

 "well, he looks a lot like mike," max adds, everyone lets out an "oh", realizing that she's right.

"let me take a look," y/n turns around to look at richie. but when she looked at their lunch table, her eyes met his chocolate brown ones.

she felt a tiny bit of heat rush to her face. she quickly turns back around and meets with everyone's smug and teasing faces.

y/n grabs her fork and eats her food, "don't you dare," she points her utensil at her friends, who had the same thought.

they all chuckled and went back to eating and talking about random things.

unbeknownst to them, the "new kids" were staring at them.

"she looks pretty," richie starts and everyone groans.

"you always think of everyone as pretty, rich," beverly laughs.

"yeah but she's prettier. i mean, look at her! whose eyes can be so mesmerizing? obviously hers," he picks on his food, "so pretty," he mumbles under his breath.

stan rolls his eyes and whispers something to eddie, "first day and he's already got a crush. wanna bet on how many crushes he will get by the end of the week?" he offers his hand.

eddie smiles and shakes stan's hand, accepting his offer.

"deal, 15 bucks, 4 crushes."

"i'll bet 20 bucks on that with 6 crushes," mike butts in.

"ben and bev said they're betting 25 bucks with 11 crushes, i'm giving 10 with 3 crushes, an additional 5 if it's more than 5 crushes," bill whispers.

"great, 30 for me, with one crush," they all laugh at stan.

richie didn't even notice his friends forming a circle, he was too busy thinking about the pretty girl.
