DAY EIGHT - Brown Teddy Bear

Resting on my bed
Glimmering black stones, pinned into your head
Your eyes full of life, there was no dread
That crooked smile, sewn with a golden thread
Not savoring your sweet childlike innocence, I regret
You'll forget about me, you said
I took your softness instead

The softness in your heart filled the space,
The space in my empty case
Sorrow fell down on my face
This isn't the time or place
It's your birthday and you're still a disgrace

After the party I walked
Walked into the room, I just wanted to talk
But I found you there with your head cut off
Cotton spread across the bed sheet
Your glimmering eyes and joyous smile, obsolete
Your innocence, I tried to retreat
Sewing you back together
But the light inside of your heart was gone forever

Oh sweet velvet fur
Why did this have to occur
It's all a blur
Who you were
I tried to take care
Take care of your despair

Nothing could stop the fleeting of time
Fleeting like air escaping through a tear
Why can't you repair?
Sweet brown teddy bear
