┆彡 LAS ALMASAfter about a 4-hour flight, they reached their destination. Bone and Price took off their headsets and seatbelts, stretching as they were relieved to finally be on land.
The teen hopped out first, Price followed her as they were immediately greeted by a small group of people, seemingly acquainted with Price.
"Captain, you made it." a Scottish accent said, making the girl turn her full attention to the man with the short mohawk.
Price chuckled, shifting this weight to his left before patting Bone on the shoulder, almost pushing her for the group to acknowledge her presence. "Yup, and I have news."
All the men looked at her, then at each other.
"Who the hell is that?"
Bone couldn't help but be startled by the hoarse British voice, almost flinching in response as she met eyes with a masked man who was taller than his peers. The mysterious person was intimidating. To make it worse, he seemed to have already disliked her.
"This is Bone. She'll be assisting you all for the rest of this mission." Price hollered, crossing his arms as his eyes shot straight through theirs.
"Her? She looks no older than 13?! Did Shepard approve of this?" The mohawk man exclaimed, himself having an accent of his own as his face was full of disgust and pity, a face the girl was already awfully familiar with.
"Yes, Soap. Shepard personally recommended her, saying she was skilled." Price announced, obviously irritated.
The group stayed silent as Price once again patted Bone on the shoulder, "Introduce yourself, kid."
The teen looked at Price, her face full of distaste as he could hear a quiet "Tch" before she started facing the rest of 141, "Yes...sir."
Bone held her arms behind her back, straightening her posture, "Nice to meet you all. I'm Bone, a sergeant. I'll be working with you from here on, I was currently working under General Shepard, and this is my first year in the military." She explained.
The group could be heard expressing sighs and worry. "Your first year being enlisted? Lass, how old are you?" Soap quizzed.
"16."
All eyes were widened except for Bone and Price.
"16?! She's just barely passing the line! How could this be allowed? She's a kid!" A man who looked most decent from the group wailed, the men around him nodding their heads in agreement.
"Me being slightly younger than you all shouldn't be a problem. I guarantee I will bring good results to the table." The teen stated, defending her pride as she spoke nonchalantly.
"That's not the issue! Don't you have a family to go back to? You have way more life ahead of you than being here." Another man spoke.
"If there was something for me out there, I wouldn't have even enlisted."
The group once again fell silent, looks being passed around as Price's irritation only grew, sighing his lips curled into a frown.
"Well? 141, Introduce yourself!"
The mohawk man stepped forward, scratching the back of his head with a small smile, trying his best to be friendly regarding the now awkward situation.
"The name's Soap, nice to meet you, kid," he uttered, offering to shake hands. Bone stared at the Scotsman, not ceasing to be offended by his words but studying him entirely before shaking his hand, returning the smile in hopes to ease his awkwardness.
Soap pulled away from the gesture, his gaze turning to the masked man who stood quietly the farthest from the two, "L.t, your turn."
All could hear a grunt before heavy footsteps approached, the man towering over his comrades as his authority lingered with each step he took. Due to Soap's friendliness, Bone held out her hand in hopes to repeat the same greeting. Although her expectations fell terribly.
The man stared at her hand, almost as if he was ridiculing her for trying to do such a thing. Once his eyes finally met hers, he spoke. "Ghost."
Bone rested her hand back on her side as she realized the man wasn't as friendly as the previous one, "Nice to meet you, Lieutenant Ghost."
Ghost didn't reply, only turning around to return to where he originally stood, Soap beginning to excuse his superior's rudeness in hopes Bone didn't take his coldness to heart.
"Don't worry about him. He's like that to everyone, not much of a talker nor a people person." he chuckled, earning a half smile from the teen.
"Now, for the rest of the people.. This is Colonel Alejandro Vargas, leader of the Mexican special forces."
The man presumed to be Alejandro stepped forward, flashing a smile as he reached out his tanned hand for Bone to shake.
The girl responded to the gesture, nodding her head as well before the last man of the group introduced himself.
"Rodolfo, Alejandro's second in charge." He said, holding out his hand like the rest, although he didn't smile.
Bone nodded her head, taking his hand and shaking it firmly before Price spoke again.
"Alright, now that that's all patched up... Soap, take her to her barracks and show her around the place." He rejoiced, being the first to leave and enter the base, attending to whatever duties.
Soap once again stepped forward, "Well? Let's go, lass."
Bone nodded, presumingly her favorite thing to do, but she followed the man, and the rest of the crowd followed behind.
