"But you seem pretty cool about it," his words echoed in my ear

Pretty cool? I have been dying all along.

"I thought you were going to tell me yourself," I said

He straightened up and I thanked him in my mind for not being so close to me anymore.

"It's because of my parents."

I raised my eyebrows and waited for him to continue.

"They know Melissa as my girlfriend and she happens to be the daughter of my father's business partner," he rubbed the back of his neck
"So basically they want me to keep seeing her so I can have a good relationship with her father."
"So you do not like her?" I asked him, I do not know why but I was afraid to know his answer
"Yes I do, I like her," he confessed
I had mixed feelings about this. Something inside me told me that it was just the jealousy I had for Melissa.
"But I know she started f-dating someone right after we broke up."
"Yeah, that blondie." he made a disgusted face and I chuckled at him
The boy from earlier came with our order and left.
"So, what's this all about?" I asked him, shoving a spoonful of my chocolate ice cream into my mouth
"You are going to go out with me; Melissa would get jealous and leave that asshole.''
"And what if she does not leave him?" I asked him, tracing the flower on the tablecloth
"There's no way she will not," he continued, "but if she does not, I'll introduce you to my parents." I listened to him intently
"And when I graduate high school, I'll tell them we broke up," he said with a shrug
"Interesting." That was all I could say to that. I found his plan amusing. He had backup plans too.
"How long would it take? I asked him
"Two months," he replied before eating the last bite of his ice cream
Ice cream. I looked down at mine and it had melted away. I was so engrossed in his plan that I forgot we were actually here to eat ice cream. At least that's what I thought.
He called the waiter to pay. I insisted on paying, but he refused my offer. Instead, he told me that as long as we were doing this fake dating, he would pay for all my stuff, and immediately refused, but it didn't seem to work on him.
