When Liam rambled on about the fair to Avery and how Harry was threatening him-a sudden
thought popped up in her head.

"You should come with me and my family," she
suggested cutting him off.

Just as Liam was, she was just as shocked by what she had said. She had just invited him to the
fair. With her dad. And Zayn. Fuck.

"Well, you don't have to come! If you don't want to" she quickly added, averting her eyes to avoid his stare.

"You know what. I'd really like that." Liam said,
and when Avery finally peered over to him, he was beaming at her and she found herself warming at the sight.

"Good. I mean uh you'll have to meet my dad and
well he doesn't even know that you come over here because he literally works all day long but he'll like you definitely. And uh Zayn, well you can bare being with him right?"

Liam didn't realise this but he perked up at the
sound of Zayn being mentioned.

"Don't worry, I'm trying to get him to like me. I
think it's working, maybe." Liam said, nodding his head at his own words.

Avery raised an eyebrow, "You're dedicated huh?"

"Yeah," he grumbled, suddenly feeling sick to his
stomach.

His gut felt as if it had been kicked and when he gazed up at Avery, the pain only increased and it
grew immense with each passing second.

"Are you okay?" Avery asked, her eyes burning with concern.

He brushed off the pain in his stomach where he
felt as if his insides were moving and swarming
around and leaving him on the verge of puking.

"Is this a date?" he asked, forcing out a smile. He wanted it to be a date, he truly did but something about it all-didn't seem right.

Avery's eyes widened and she almost laughed at
what Liam had said, "A friendly date.!"

Liam grimaced yet his smile stayed intact and it
only pulled up wider.

"Great," he grumbled before shoving his face into
his papers with a groan.

"You invited him? With us? Avery this is a family
thing."

Avery glanced over to her brother, her face covered in regret and guilt though Zayn didn't even bother to look back at her. He kept his eyes fixated ahead as they made their way to school.

He didn't sound angry or annoyed like she had
expected, no his voice was laced with confusion
and his features were coloured blank.

"I know and I'm sorry. He was having some problems in his friend group, something about one of them being gay and another homophobic. I'm not sure but he sounded distressed and I wanted to help," Avery rambled, her words quickening with each step she took- somehow trying to ease herself to what Zayn would say next.

He could yell, he could protest and tell her to uninvite him. But he didn't.

He simply said, "Okay."

Avery furrowed her eyebrows, confusion flowing
throughout her and she checked her ears to make
sure she was hearing correct

Okay? Where was the lecture he was supposed to
give her on why Liam is a bad person?

"What? Did you just hear me?" Avery replied,
bringing herself to an abrupt halt.
