Chapter 1
Author's POV
General Jong Ki was seated in his office when Lieutenant Lisa Manoban walked in. The general stood up to greet her as she approached.
"Lt. Manoban," General Jong Ki said, his tone serious.
Lisa saluted as she stepped closer. "General Song," she replied, a sign of respect in her voice.
The general motioned for her to sit but continued standing himself. "You were scheduled to deploy on a mission to Afghanistan next week under Captain Jongin Kim, correct?"
"Yes, sir," Lisa replied, standing at attention.
The general nodded, closing the folder in front of him. "Your orders have been revised. Instead of Afghanistan, you'll be reassigned to a new task."
Lisa’s brow furrowed slightly. "May I ask the reason for my reassignment, sir?"
The general sighed, leaning against his desk. "It’s a personal matter. I’ve decided to run for the Senate, and as part of that, I need someone to protect my daughter. You'll be her personal bodyguard."
Lisa nodded, her expression neutral. "Understood, sir. I will do my best to protect her."
The general’s lips tightened into a thin smile. "That’s the spirit, Lieutenant. But be warned—this won’t be an easy task. My daughter, Jennie, has a reputation for being difficult. She’s already dismissed three bodyguards before you."
Lisa's eyes widened slightly. "Noted, sir."
General Jong Ki handed Lisa an envelope. "Inside, you’ll find her schedule and a contract outlining your responsibilities. There are certain rules you must follow to the letter. Review them tonight. If you agree to the terms, we’ll finalize your reassignment."
Lisa accepted the envelope with a firm nod. "Understood, sir. I’ll review the contract and confirm tomorrow. Permission to leave?"
The general returned her salute. "Granted."

As Lisa exited the office, she was greeted by Jungkook, who casually threw an arm over her shoulder.
"Lisa! What were you doing in the general’s office? Don’t tell me you’ve been caught with another woman," Jungkook teased, grinning mischievously.
Lisa rolled her eyes. "Nothing like that. I’ve been reassigned."
Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "That’s great news! No more Captain Jongin breathing down your neck. Where are you heading?"
Lisa sighed, her lips curving into a faint smile. "To General Song’s house. I’ll be his daughter’s bodyguard."
Jungkook froze, his jaw dropping. "Wait, what? The general’s daughter? The same Jennie Kim who fired three bodyguards? You’re in for it now."
Lisa chuckled nervously. "Is she really that bad?"
Jungkook gave her a grave look. "Bad? Let’s just say her glare alone could freeze fire. Good luck, Manoban. You’ll need it."
Their conversation was interrupted by the sharp sound of boots clicking on the floor. Captain Jongin Kim approached, his expression smug.
"Lieutenant Manoban," Jongin began, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "I heard about your reassignment. Must be nice to escape deployment. You’re lucky General Song thinks you’re capable of handling his daughter."
Lisa kept her expression neutral. "It’s the general’s decision, sir. I’ll follow orders."
Jongin’s eyes narrowed. "Remember, Lieutenant, keep your distance from Jennie Kim. If you cross the line, you’ll answer to me."
Lisa saluted. "Understood, sir."
Jungkook muttered under his breath as Jongin walked away. "That guy acts like he owns her. Just be careful, Lisa. Jennie’s trouble, and so is he."

Jennie’s POV
As I hurried through the house, my mom called after me. "Sweetie, have breakfast before you go to work!"
"I’ll eat at the office, Mom. I’m running late," I replied, grabbing my bag.
Dad appeared in the doorway, his expression softening. "Jennie, come sit with us. You can’t skip breakfast."
I sighed, knowing I could never say no to him. "Alright, Dad. You win."
I sat down, the scent of pancakes and strawberries filling the air. My mom smiled as she handed me the jam. "Here, sweetie."
As I spread it over my pancake, Dad cleared his throat. "Jennie, I have some news. I’ve decided to run for the Senate."
My fork paused mid-air. "Dad, politics is dangerous. Are you sure about this?"
Mom looked equally concerned. "Honey, I don’t like this idea. It’s risky."
Dad smiled reassuringly. "I know, but I want to make a difference." He glanced at me. "And to ensure your safety, I’ve hired a new bodyguard."
I groaned, pushing my plate away. "Dad, I’ve told you I don’t need a bodyguard. I can take care of myself."
"This one’s different," he insisted. "She’s highly qualified."
I frowned. "A woman? Do you really think she can handle the job?"
"Don’t underestimate her," Dad said with a knowing smile. "You’ll see soon enough."
I smirked, leaning back in my chair. "Alright, Dad. Let’s see if she lasts longer than the others."
