One Month Later
Jennie held Lisa’s hand tightly, her voice soft yet trembling. "Honey, it's been months. Please wake up. We need you. Our baby is waiting." Tears welled in her eyes as she leaned closer, resting her forehead against Lisa’s hand. "I’ll wait for you, Lisa. No matter how long it takes."
Her parents stood quietly nearby, watching Jennie with concerned expressions.

Flashback
General Song noticed Jennie putting on her coat near the door. “Sweetie, where are you going? Can we talk for a minute?”
Jennie hesitated, her voice shaky. “I’m going to visit Lisa. Why, Dad?”
General Song eyed her carefully. “Are you okay? Someone mentioned you saw a doctor recently. Tell me, Jennie. Are you sick?”
Jennie swallowed hard, tears streaming down her face. “Dad... I’m pregnant. I’m going to be a mom.” A faint smile broke through her tears.
The general froze, then slowly let out a soft laugh. “Pregnant? Who’s the father, Jennie? Why didn’t you tell us you had a boyfriend?”
Jennie hesitated, then decided to confess. "Lisa. She said she’d be the one to tell you, and I promised I’d stand by her when that day came."
General Song’s face shifted from confusion to realization. “Lisa? Lieutenant Manoban?”
Jennie nodded, lowering her head as tears fell. “I love her, Dad. She’s the father of my baby.”
General Song laughed again, this time with warmth. “I knew it! I had a feeling. I know Lisa’s condition. And I’m not blind—I’ve seen her sneaking into your room many times. The way she looks at you, it’s more than just a boss-bodyguard relationship.”
Jennie’s face lit up with hope. “So... you’re not mad? You’re okay with us?”
General Song smiled, placing a hand on her shoulder. “I know Lisa will protect you and your family. Besides, I trust her.”
Jennie raised a brow. “Then why the contract, Dad?”
“Ah, that was just to test her loyalty,” he said teasingly, earning a glare from Jennie.
“Dad!”
He chuckled before becoming serious. “But there’s something else I need to show you. Follow me.”
---
Jennie stood in shock as her father revealed a wall covered with photographs of Lisa. “Dad... what is this? Why are there so many pictures of Lisa?”
General Song sighed, his tone somber. “There’s a lot you don’t know, Jennie. I hired Lisa as our bodyguard not just because of her skills but to fulfill a promise I made to her father—my best friend.”
“Lisa’s father?” Jennie asked, her voice trembling.
He nodded. “We were childhood best friends, trained together in the military, and dreamed of becoming generals. But during a mission, Lisa’s family was ambushed. Lisa was in a high school that time. Her father died protecting her.”
Jennie gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. “She was there?”
General Song nodded. “I was there when her father took his last breath. His final words were, ‘Take care of my child.’ I swore I would. After that, Lisa was taken to Thailand by her grandmother. I lost contact with them for years until fate brought her back into my life.”
Jennie listened intently as tears streamed down her face.
“Lisa saved my life during an ambush overseas. She shielded me from a bullet that could’ve killed me. It was only then that I discovered she was my best friend’s daughter,” General Song continued.
Jennie wiped her tears. “She’s amazing, Dad. That’s why I love her.”
General Song patted her hand. “She is. Be strong for her, Jennie. She needs you now more than ever.”

Two Months Later
Jennie sat by Lisa’s hospital bed, her baby bump showing as she read aloud from a parenting book. Her words trailed off when she noticed Lisa’s fingers twitching. Slowly, Lisa’s eyes fluttered open, locking onto Jennie.
“Honey…” Jennie gasped, rushing to her side.
Lisa’s gaze shifted to Jennie’s stomach. "Baby?" she whispered weakly.
Jennie took Lisa’s hand and placed it on her belly. “Yes, honey. Our baby. We’ve been waiting for you.”
A weak smile spread across Lisa’s face. “I’m going to be a daddy?”
Jennie nodded, tears streaming. “You’re going to be the best dad. I love you so much.”
Lisa pulled her hand back, brushing Jennie’s tears away. “I love you too. Thank you for waiting for me.”

Three Days Later
General Song and Hye Kho welcomed Lisa home with open arms. “Welcome back, Lisa,” they said warmly.
Lisa bowed slightly. “Thank you for everything. I’m sorry for breaking the contract—”
General Song laughed, interrupting her. “Forget the contract. You’re family now. Let’s start fresh.”
Lisa smiled, glancing at Jennie. “Thank you, General. I’ll do my best to protect them.”
Hye Kho pulled Lisa into a warm embrace. “We know you will.”
As they stood together, Jennie slipped her hand into Lisa’s. “Welcome home, hon,” she whispered.
Lisa looked at Jennie and their soon-to-be family, her heart swelling with gratitude. “It’s good to be home.”
