Shelby is the daughter of Pete Mitchell. She never knew her mother, and her father lost contact with the woman after Shelby was born and left with him, but he didn't mind. The two of them have had a rocky but strong father daughter relationship. Shelby understood why Maverick pulled Bradley's papers, he didn't know what else to do. But that didn't mean she wasn't on Bradley's side of the debate, cause she was. Maverick knew that if he did the same to his daughter, she wouldn't forgive him just like Bradley didn't, and he couldn't lose her, so he let the girl follow her dreams of being a naval aviator.
Bradley is now 22 and starting his first year at the academy while Shelby, who is two years younger, is about to start her junior year. The two have talked and her the phone a lot recently, and have somewhat reconciled their friendship since the paper-pulling incident. Enjoyyyyyyyyy!
