everyone in the circus has amnesia as a result of being put into the game. pomni only learns of her real identity when caine gives her the "wrong gift" (of a knife) and everything goes very very downhill
there's a virus in the game that plays into caine's abandonment issues and basically forces him into a very violent mode that makes him want to kill in order to reset everyone back to their amnesia state so they continue to stay
