"sweetheart please calm down." ashton tried to keep parker's voice down. i sat on the chair, my tail swinging softly behind me as i watched the scene unfold in front of me.
i've only been here for the past three months and i could see how much the single dad struggled. it was hard enough with me, too. there was a strict no animal policy yet here i am.
"baby please, luke?" i looked up when ashton called my name. "come here boy."
i jumped off the chair, trotting over to parker already knowing what to do. the seven year old's face lit up when she saw me. "lukey!"
i purred softly as her fingers ran over my fur, scratching behind my ear. ashton let out a sigh of relief and i smiled to myself, getting comfortable on parker's lap.
"good boy." ashton mumbled, draping an arm over his eyes and letting sleep take over his tired body.
