The blonde girl instantly got flustered and her face started turning red, even while trying to remain cold. "G-Good..." Although it had been the answer Mary had expected, it still felt weird. Ririka now seemed to be surprisingly calm and even maybe a little content, yet now was already looking back at the floor. There was silence between the two "Why do I want to trust her so badly...?" Mary took a deep breath.
"Alright... first, tell me what the whole deal between you and Kirari is." While inquisitively looking at Ririka, Mary genuinely sounded like she wanted to know more about what the relation between the two was, yet it was quite obvious that just the thought of what she had witnessed was making her upset. After having heard the question, Ririka went quiet for a moment. The white haired girl's eyes had their usual coloring while she was breathing calmly. Even so, Ririka avoided looking at Mary directly. Ririka for a moment thought about what she should say. She wasn't hesitating or anything, she genuinely thought about how she could explain it to Mary in the best way, as she had never actually talked about it with someone before. Ririka cleared her throat before speaking in a clear and honest voice.
"Well... you probably already heard the most important details...", Ririka looked up at Mary, searching for affirmation. Mary didn't really give any reaction and just skeptically gazed at Ririka as she definitely wasn't knowing enough. The whitehaired girl resumed talking as she didn't want to drag this out "...but what might interest you is that, believe it or not, Kirari and I were really close as kids... We genuinely supported each other and actually got along really well." Ririkas voice softened as she seemingly was recalling pleasant memories, "Even back then, Kirari always took care of me and although we were twins, she always was like a big sister to me. I always looked up to her, which I still kinda do..."
Mary was listening to the fullest not taking her eyes of the whitehaired girl "They got along as kids? By the way Kirari talked to her back there, it is hard to believe that there was a point when Kirari liked Ririka..." Mary definitely was surprised by that revelation. Ririka suddenly for a moment stopped talking and a much sadder aura surrounded her, almost like the pleasant memories were instantly cut off. Mary noticed that and started feeling slightly worried.
"However... after our parents died in a car accident... Kirari changed a lot..." Mary's eyes widened as she looked at Ririka who obviously was remembering something awful. The coldness which Mary had around her was almost completely gone as she felt compassion loosening up her body and softening her eyes. Mary wanted to say something, yet for some reason she couldn't. Mary felt a heavy weight while looking at Ririka. "I was rather young back then... but I still remember it quite vividly..."
There wasn't really suffering in Ririkas voice although she appeared to be a little sad, yet she in general didn't seem too affected recalling her parents' deaths. "Kirari at that time was visiting some relatives by herself as she was supposed to reinforce bonds with those families to win over their trust. However I was in the same car with my parents when the accident happened..." Mary's eyes were filled with horror as she realized what Ririka was implying, "... there was a lot of blood. Weirdly I don't remember any screaming, which let's me believe that they at least died without suffering... " Ririkas eyes turned arctic blue as she interrupted speaking for a moment,
"Miraculously I didn't get hurt at all... not even a single scar to tell the tale...maybe it was fate or just dumb luck... the seatbelt probably helped too... but that definitely was the moment after which everything went downhill between me and Kirari."
Mary didn't know how to react at all as she was completely devastated. The blonde girl could do nothing besides staring at Ririka. What was even more shocking was how, by the way Ririka talked, the whitehaired girl had seemingly accepted, a long time ago, what had happened. "She witnessed her parents dying in front of her? I-I can't imagine how traumatizing that must have been..." All of a sudden the comment from Kirari about how Ririka should have died in that car crash felt ten times more extreme. During the time Mary was still processing what she had just heard, Ririka already seemed to have gotten a hold of herself. "Both Kirari and I were affected quite a lot by their deaths... however it hit Kirari a lot harder than me... after she found out, I guess that she lost all hope in the world. The only way she coped with our parents' deaths was by believing that they were weak and that this is what happens to weak people. I am quite sure that it was just an accident that could have happened to anyone, however Kirari strongly believed that other clan members were responsible for this as our parents had quite a few enemies. At the same time she must have felt abandoned by them, almost betrayed.",
